Small First Officer’s update: the pokey, unattractive Movember mustache is gone, so we can finally make out again, haha. He looks 10 years younger with the weight loss and clean shaven face.
On our last date, we talked about the 5 Love Languages quiz we both took last week, because my results are sort of confusing to him.
Me:
8 Words of Affirmation
9 Quality Time
7 Receiving Gifts
2 Acts of Service
4 Physical Touch
Him:
5 Words of Affirmation
4 Quality Time
2 Receiving Gifts
7 Acts of Service
12 Physical Touch
How funny that we’re almost exactly opposite.
I scored rather high in Gifts, but he says I’ve always been rather “meh” about receiving gifts. I had to gently tell him that I was “meh” about his gifts because his gifts were, well…. “meh”. After about the 3rd birthday of receiving a funny t-shirt from him, I had to put a moratorium on t-shirts. His thought process is “we have similar tastes, I love this, so she’ll love it too!” Sometimes it worked out, most often it didn’t, so I just kind of gave up on gift exchanges, because I didn’t want to be let down. I’m not saying I needed something expensive or anything, but just something with some thought behind it. I’m pretty obvious about things I like. He follows my Pinterest boards, I point out things I think are cute or cool, I post pictures of books I want on twitter sometimes. It’s sort of a moot point right now, because I can’t remember the last time we bought something other than dinner at a restaurant that wasn’t a necessity, and life will probably continue on like that for a while.
Physical Touch for me might seems weird since I seem to have evolved into a rather sexual gal, but I don’t hug and kiss spontaneously very often. I just don’t think of it usually. I make a big effort to be that way now, because I know that’s what he needs to feel loved, but it’s never been a big deal to me if I’m not getting hugged or touched all the time. This was a HUGE point of contention for us in the dark years.
He also pointed out that it’s funny that I sent him that quiz, because we’ve had the damn book on our bookshelf for 5 years. He bought it and tried to get me to read it, and I blew it off so hard I don’t even remember it. What a bitch.
