(I have an uncanny nack for finding truly awful t-shirts for men. Who would wear this??)

This week should be interesting. My Mother-In-Law due in on Wednesday.

We…. don’t get along all that well. We can both be cordial, but she is the most passive aggressive person I know. She has her reasons, she’s had a rough life, but it’s hard to deal with for more than a few days. She’ll be here for a week.

It’ll be her first time here since Captain M took the red pill, so I’ll be interested to see how that changes the dynamic.

I’m not entirely sure that our toddler K had the flu, because although she was MISERABLE for two days, she recovered really quickly. Does Tamiflu work that fast? Captain M and baby A started feeling under the weather on Friday, which led to cancellation of Date Night, which led to me being very sad. It’s been weeks since we had time out and alone, I miss it very much. I need a recharge. I’ve gotten time out of the house, but it’s generally been to run errands and go grocery shopping, and I feel guilty for leaving the kids at home with Cpt. M.

He started feeling better by Sunday, as did Baby A. Baby D woke up this morning feeling hot and miserable, of course. Some Advil and an additional nap later, he’s looking better. So hopefully it’s all done before MIL gets here. I’m covering everything in bleach today. We might be able to get out on Tuesday if D isn’t actually sick and was just teething or something this morning. As I continue writing, he seems to be just fine, so maybe I’m hypersensitive to every sniffle and couch right now.

I can’t wait to get to the gym today. Been reading Mark’s Daily Apple and seriously considering a diet change, even though Captain M doesn’t buy into paleo. Y’all don’t have to lecture me, I know. img-1711315579-66009a7baf3c27.62160202.gif Our grocery bill is still somehow atrocious, even though I don’t buy junk food and generally cook from scratch with the exception of canned soups as casserole ingredients (not great in terms of sodium, but I don’t have time to make the cream soups from scratch at the moment. It’s a trade-off). I think it will be till the boys can kick their $40 a week formula habit. But I don’t regret switching to formula in any way. I’m fairly sure I’d be bonkers in a mental institution right now if I were still nursing.

K has a birthday party on Saturday that I’m freaking out about on top of everything else (3 years old!). We have friends who are vegan for medical reasons, I need to find a cupcake to make them. K loves chocolate cake, but one of her friends is allergic to chocolate. Thank God my gluten-allergic sister isn’t here too. A good excuse to pull out some new recipes and experiment. All the more bad food for me to send to work with Cpt. M for his coworkers to eat for us, haha.

Still no word from my step-mom on the discussion with my dad. I need to follow up with her, but for now things seem ok. But it’s impossible to tell. I hate nagging people about anything, so I’m hesitant to bring it up again.

Overall, we’ve been good despite the sickies. And now, I go disinfect everything in the house.
