Now that Christmas is over I can drop my red pill cultural “dirty bomb” in a downtown shopping mall without being called a terrorist, scrooge, or a bitter spoil sport. Let’s rewind right to the beginning and examine the origins of what is now an absolutely mindless orgy of materialism. Only by understanding history can we know where we are coming from.
The 21st of December is the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. Even 100 years ago it was not a great time of year. A bitter winter was set to follow and without global supply chains, greenhouses, super markets and so forth, basics we take for granted like fresh meat, fruit, and vegetables were off the menu.
Anywhere in the higher latitudes was freeze-your-bollocks-off-snowed-in, adding to survival woes. The famous Swiss watches and Italian spectacle frames, designer leather etc. actually came about because jewelers and craftsmen up in the Alps needed something to do all winter that didn’t require huge amounts of raw materials, wasn’t perishable, and could be sold for a high value once the snow thawed.
Before Swiss watch makers got their shit together, all the average bod could do was count the days until spring came back around so he would know when to plant crops, when mountain passes might be negotiated, when to slaughter the last goat that hadn’t frozen to death, and when he might get a decent plate of food in his belly again. This time of year has been observed and celebrated going back thousands of years. Why then is it the 25th that is so important and not the 21st, you might ask?
The dubious origins of the Christmas celebration
This is where we immediately find the influence of Christianity rearing its head. I am sure you are familiar with the expression: “On the third day he rose again.” What this actually refers to is the fact that the sun hits its lowest point on the 21st December and takes three days to show any sign of return, with the morning of the 25th December being the first day the sun begins coming back up a little higher.
A minor seasonal anomaly that relates only to the northern hemisphere and has nothing to do with three wise men, babies born in barns to virgins, crucifixion, or any of that hocus pocus. Christmas is essentially the celebration of the fact that the earth orbits the sun, which it does every day and probably will for another few billion years.
Some thing that the entire Christian doctrine was lifted from pagan rituals, including Christmas and Easter – mass consumer marketing at its finest. They were even clever enough to push the 3rd day rising over to Easter, hiding its origins and confusing the poor ignorant illiterate peasants of the day, with nothing but complete gibberish. One or two generations, which was only 30-40 years back then, and it was all forgotten.
The impact on the present day
Moving right along to the 21st century, here I am trying to duck and dive past this shopping and feeding frenzy, maintain my sanity whilst not feeling like a miserable old man, or allowing myself to slide into the orgy myself. I must say this is hard to do, which is probably why Christmas is one of the top times of year for family disagreements, marital break ups, depression, suicides and other human tragedy.
It’s all fine and good to celebrate, but what if you just want to chill? Having lived in a sunny climate in the southern hemisphere for nigh on a decade, returning to the cold north and having this nonsense foisted onto me was certainly a shock to the system and reminds me why I spent several Christmas periods as a teenager holed up in a hotel room with a girl, a couple of ounces, and a bottle of Jack. There was no other way to escape it.
What was once a sensible and “cosmic” event relating to the planetary alignment was hijacked by a new religion that had more to do with political power than spiritual enlightenment. It has now become a tool of socialist conformity. You will shop, you will eat, and you will spend.
Failure to do so makes you a miserable outcast, open to emotional blackmail from just about everyone you know. I’m a rebel Zen Buddhist, why the fuck should I say Happy Christmas. It’s like asking a Jewish person to say “Sieg Heil.”
This is where it gets really evil
Children love a little fantasy, toys, fairy tales, and so forth. They are in wonder and awe at the world around them, and so they should be. If you lift your eyes to the world beyond the shopping mall, office, or nightclub, it is an incredible existence of which we still know very little. As adults we’re soon caught up in day-to-day survival, while crap like money, pussy, and putting a roof over our heads becomes all-important.
Children are fed this Christmas brainwashing drama which does several things:
1. Forces the parents to shop, spend, and eat. Marketing by emotional blackmail.
2. Removes free will, ensuring conformity to social norms (socialism).
3. Subjugates parental authority to higher powers such as Santa – “If you behave little Johnnie, Santa will bring you a new bicycle.”
4. All of which reinforces the system of the state by educating youngsters to believe they will be rewarded for “good behavior” by forces larger than themselves.
I’m not big on conspiracy theories
The Catholic Church broke into dozens of factions in a very short time and they had God to oversee them. Humans tend to disagree long term so it’s hard to see how some kind of illuminati is lauding over humanity, unless of course it’s all orchestrated by uber-intelligent aliens—but now we’re really pushing the envelope.
Rather what tends to happen is the blind leading the blind. The wealthy, powerful, and greedy with the biggest motivation and marketing reach push everyone else to follow their lead and “lean in” to whatever agenda suits them best. The next generation do more or less the same.
In and of itself, it can be a force for progress, but it’s also a force for degeneration, as we can see from the so-called Christmas story. No parent can avoid Christmas anymore and although it’s a relatively low-key event in the southern hemisphere and Asia, it’s still observed as a global holiday by and large.
As a single person you can hop over it. It’s a convenient time for a vacation (provided you don’t mind traffic snarls and packed jetliners), but still there is a subtle element of conformity. Women and children love it, so in any kind of LTR you’re going to have to get involved with some manner of festivities or other and of course since it’s considered a family time, failure to show (or provide a rock solid excuse), can alienate you from family members. It’s also a time when professional colleagues expect some token of appreciation (and signal of your conformity).
Christmas is blatantly shoved in our faces, whilst subtlety making us conform, in ways we might not have considered. I abhor the current trend, especially amongst white males, where they engage in all-out buffoonery for validation and to show they conform. It’s pathetic at best and at worst they are only brainwashing themselves. It can be nice to celebrate but only if you want to.
You may have to stand alone
No one likes a whining, moaning, miserable “anti-Christmas” spoil sport. No one appreciates the guy that is right but goes against their beliefs and selfish ideals. Most of what Christmas is about today is simply a herd conformity pushed in an extremely selfish materialistic way. People get offended if you do not validate their BS and go along with them, but what does that make you if you do?
At the end of the day I decided that within it all, there is a certain amount of honest Christmas cheer, which can be a good thing. It’s a delicate matter, so rather than fighting against what amounts to a stampede, better to cherry pick the best out of it and hit and run where necessary. I smile at Christmas not to be cheerful, but because its amusing to watch unconscious people pay such importance to what amounts to nothing more than their own selfish desires.
People get quite defensive and come with all kinds of bizarre excuses to rope you into the festivities. I’m not religious, but perhaps this is what the prophets meant when they talked about worshiping the antichrist. They sure as hell ain’t paying homage to the light anymore, so the only logical conclusion is they are worshiping their own inner darkness.
