Are you worried what would happen to your credit score if you miss a student loan or credit card payment?
Are you scared of getting sick?
Are you paranoid of leaving comments on web sites for fear that your employer or friends might find out about them?
At work are you tagged like a dog with an identification badge?
Are there things you want to do with your life but can’t seem to find the time?
Do you withhold your real views from people so you don’t damage your “reputation”?
Is the reason you are not starting a blog or writing a book because your identity might get out and hurt your employment status?
Do you believe it’s important to have professional and social responsibilities just for the sake of having responsibilities?
Think of something you bought in the last year. Was one of the reasons for making the purchase to impress other people?
Do you tell people what they want to hear?
Do you defend groups or organizations that do not defend you?
When you travel to foreign countries, do you withhold your whereabouts for fear that the authorities will come after you and your attempts to write a sex guide?
If you answered yes to any three questions above, you are a slave. Other people are living your life and thinking for you. Your existence is merely to serve them.
I see too many men who are house slaves but think they are free. They get a few crumbs from the master, get a little time off to go to the beach, and are even allowed to eat at the master’s table. They are happy not to be working on the fields, but they are still controlled and owned.
If you are a slave, can you think of ways to escape from the plantation, from the clutches of your master? What is one thing you can do tomorrow to put you closer to gaining your freedom?
