I recently decided to ban the commenter “Yours Truly”. I’m close to a free speech absolutist [I consider the "Fairness" Doctrine incipient evil], but when a commenter lies, evades, ignores arguments to the contrary, pitches her endless shitstream of crackpot “theories” ad nauseum irrespective of the facts and other readers’ attempts to correct her, engages in long-winded, exclusionary, one-on-one conversations with one other commenter — in effect using this blog as a coffee klatch – and does so with the blockheaded stubbornness of a retarded mule then that commenter becomes, in practice, no different than spam.
And spam must be banned.
As if to prove my point that Yours Truly was using the comments section like a coffee klatch to make a lesbian date with “anony”, right after I banned the tone deaf dumbass, my spam filter caught another one of her blathering posts where she said “I don’t like that you edited my post. I was in the middle of a conversation with anony.”
Not anymore cunt. If you want a torrid scissorfest with anony, send her a private email.
I half-assedly once suggested limiting Sara and SAM to five comments per post because their spewage was making it inconvenient for me to trawl through their mindnumbing morass to find the few comment gems worth reading. But there was an outcry by the readers that my actions amounted to a ban, and, hence, against the spirit of this blog. So I let the votes count and dropped the idea.
Since I am a demon guided by my twisted principles subject to no court other than my own counsel, I’ve decided to reinstate Yours Truly, but on the condition that the minute she reverts to imitating a spambot I reserve complete discretion to kick her off permanently. Yours Truly, consider yourself on notice.
