Mayor Adrian M. Fenty wants to help balance the District’s recession-squeezed budget by allowing as many as 80 percent of the city’s inmates to qualify for early release, borrowing a tactic that has stirred controversy elsewhere in the nation.
Why reverse the successful imprisonment policies of the last couple of decades? Did the crime rate drop too low for the wackjob equalist brigage and now they see in the fat and happy public’s gated complacence a chance to return to agitating for the “rights” and “dignity” of criminal filth and the mystical magic of “rehabilitation”? There are better ways to balance the budget that don’t come at the expense of public safety. Give me a red pen and I’ll have no problem slashing through the bloated numbers. Of course, some people will cry that their wish lists were axed. Fuck ‘em and their pretty little toy dogs, too.
I have a sneaking suspicion that a sizeable percentage of DC’s population would love to see the prisons release the hellhounds even if it means more time spent sitting away from their windows at night and organizing funeral potlucks. These ideological fruitcakes and thug abettors who support jailbreak policies like the above are essentially anti-beauty. Yes, it is a beautiful thing to lock up thugs until they are well past their menace II society lifestage, and to remove them from general circulation. I’m a lover of beauty.
