Hope you’ve been having a lovely weekend so far.

First up, new bloggers on the roll include anoukange, who has this truthful rant on her blog:

If you are a guy and have not been in a somewhat long-term relationship, if you are a guy and have not lived with a woman, if you are a guy who grew up without sisters, if you are a guy who  grew up without a mother around or she was one to do you and your father wrong, if you are a guy who didn’t get his first kiss/shag until his early twenties….for all of those curses I am sorry, I am.

But…

SHUT THE FUCK UP regarding women.  If you have fucked a lot of them then you may contribute on sex, dating, etc.  But again, you dudes as well…shut the fuck up regarding RELATIONSHIPS with women.  You have your own issues that I’m sure cloud your gaze when doing your thing.  Sort your attic and stop your shit slinging and buck passing.  You may or may not know what you’re talking about and that will be determined.

I know a number of individuals who would do well to take that advice.

Next, Jack Donovan, one of my colleagues at The Spearhead, pens an essay on strength:

To be strong, and perhaps more accurately, to be stronger, is the role of men. Strength determines what men are and what they do. On a mundane level, we are most often asked to move and open things because we can. Because it is easier for us to do so. At the other extreme, men are most often placed in peril or charged with defending our people (or aggressing on their behalf) because, as a group, we are better equipped to meet certain kinds of physical challenges.

Completely agreed.

Whiskey dissects the outmoded business model of Hollywood and why it’s headed for disaster:

Or more specifically, loss of value to consumers by Hollywood and legacy media. Because consumers in hard times will not shell out $20 or more for “Land of the Lost” or “Funny People.” They will rent the DVDs, for about $1, if it is convenient. Or buy pirated copies for about the same. None of this involves the internet, excepting the convenience of managing Netflix queues, or piracy, or video on demand, or downloads from Itunes or Amazon, or Hulu.com and its enormous library of old TV shows and movies. Hollywood’s worst enemy is itself, and the mostly superior run of movies and television shows produced from say, 1939 through 1992 or so. Available cheaply, sometimes free, in a more convenient way than expensive purchases through retailers. People like to watch movies, together, on screens ranging from theaters to living room televisions. It took sustained, concerted effort by Hollywood to produce movies and television shows to wean people of this habit, but Hollywood’s creative and executive ranks were fully equal to that task.

I’m not going to miss Hollywood when it’s gone, and I doubt too many more will either.

Alex Birch states why smart people should have crappy lives:

I’m going to have a go and risk pissing more people off on the topic: not only do smart people need less help, they should really know what it feels like to be a loser. A rough environment has always shaped the genius of intelligent people. Nietzsche grew up among a flock of women. Spinoza was banned from his Jewish community. Poe ended up as an alcoholic (every good poet is/was). Beethoven couldn’t socialize with friends at the end of his life. Yet he wrote the ninth, deaf and all.

Comfort breeds complacency.

Φ takes another swing at defining the amount of social civility women owe men:

As the XKCD comic above illustrates, one of the problems (though not the only one) that my “rule of politeness” seeks to address is in determining when an interaction has proceeded to an actual romantic overture. It is true that men rarely make such overtures cold; they are usually preceded by what my father calls “circling”. But it is also true that not all interactions are actually circling behavior. I wouldn’t go so far as to say that the interactions are platonic, but sometimes the guy on the train that strikes up a conversation about your netbook just wants to enjoy a conversation with a pretty girl. That’s not the same thing as a romantic overture.

Also check out the exchange between Φ and Trumwill in the comments.

Kamal S. talks on how to use your hands when kissing:

What is nicer than to stroke and run your hands through a woman’s hair, while kissing her? To caress her face and neck gently? To trace the outlines and contours of her body with your hands, to smoothly stroke, and then firmly knead, and then gently knead her flanks and back and thighs with one arm, as you wrap your other arm around her?

Things like this have been left behind in our crass culture.

LovelySexyBeauty offers some tips for older women in the mating dance:

Be sweet and feminine.  If you have a great personality and make a man feel good just being in your presence, he will want to be in your presence as much as possible.  (For the thoughtful girls out there, I think just being there to calmly listen to him and discuss his thoughts can do a similar thing, even if you are not a happy sort of person.)  Make him feel like a man and you will be a rare girl.  He will come to you when he wants to feel good… the rest of life can bring him down but he knows his woman will always be with him to bring him up

Admittedly, her title is kind of stupid. But her advice is sound.

Chuck reports on the effect the Pill has had on female mating choices:

Given that Pill use isn’t universal among women, the argument above may prove to be the strongest catalyst toward feminization of Western men. The Pill created a knock-on effect larger than its own actual shadow that bolstered the status of dandies, pansies, and effeminates. While we previously thought that the Pill had only primary effects on American culture – sexual nihilism – it may now have secondary and tertiary effects (selection for effeminate men and endorsement of said selection).

That’s an interesting thought.

Dennis Mangan posts a missive on what he terms “radical conservatism“:

It’s starting to dawn on most men that women, courtship, and marriage no longer resemble their former selves, and have in fact been given a thorough makeover. Marriage as an institution begins to look like something deliberately designed to extract resources from men, very much at their expense.

These three examples, HBD, government/finance, and marriage, concern society’s fundamental bases, and all have been radically transformed by those who would benefit from the transformation.

Should any conservative want to preserve them?

We may be at the point where it would be more worthwhile to burn everything to the ground and start anew rather then try to preserve what little good is left in the current society.

MarkyMark takes an article I linked to last week and rips it to pieces in his take-no-prisoners style:

You know how to tell if you’re achieving real equality? Do you know how to tell when women are being subject to the same treatment men are? They start squealing like stuck pigs-ha! They start screaming bloody murder! Waaaaaaaahhhh, this isn’t fair-waaaaaaaaahhhhhh! It was all right when we were taking you men to the cleaners. Now that you’re returning the favor, we don’t like it so much-waaaaaaaaaahhhhh!! It was perfectly all right when I was stealing the fruits of your labor; now that you’re doing it to me, it sucks-waaaaaaaaahhhh! You know what I have to say to that? Welcome to my life, Bitch! How do you like living in a man’s world, hmmmm?

Ah, the joys of schadenfreude…

OneSTDV analyzes the politics of the Ivy League universities:

Cornell: Located in the bastion of hippie liberalism: Ithaca New York. Cornell gave rise to both Keith Olbermann and Ann Coulter. Probably the most practically based campus due to their high ranked engineering school and lots of pre-meds. Students tend to be highly liberal, though a large Greek system harbors some of that “frat-boy” conservatism. Site of the one of the most racially charged incidents at a college: The Straight Takeover.

He’s mostly right on this one. Having visited Ithaca, I can say it’s more SWPL liberal then hippie liberal.

Thursday has a great entry on the freedom afforded by game:

Now, liberation from all restraints is not necessarily a good thing for human beings. Some nod to the good opinion of your neighbour is a healthy requirement for a good citizen. Hubris is always ready to take overtake those who are free to live without consequence. I don’t think this will be my problem. I still do care somewhat about my career and my place in society. I care about my standing before God and before his church. I don’t want to needlessly offend good people. But the knawing fear of aloneness and reproductive oblivion is gone. The terror of having it swept all away is no more. It feels nice.

There is nothing more liberating than being able to live your life without fear.

The Audacious Epigone spills the reason why leftists, who demand “fairness” in all areas of life, will never protest sexual inequality:

To protest sexual inequality is tantamount to admitting one has low mating attractiveness. Policies to reduce it are not seen as legitimate ideological positions. CBG’s announcement to the Springfield citizenry is booed and precipitates the ousting of the Mensa leadership in favor of the return of the corrupt Quimby machine. This is in stark contrast to protesting economic inequality, often a method of displaying one’s affluence and high earning capacity, and a broadly lauded goal across most of the socio-political spectrum.

There will be no organized revolution, but an atomized, individualist one.

Half Sigma writes on the modern class struggle in America:

Leftism has evolved since those days, and the modern left no longer idolizes the working class. The left now idolizes the non-working leisure class, and the left-right struggle has now come down to whether you support one of the two types of leisure classes.

Leftists haven’t given a shit about the working class since the Great Society was passed into law.

Randall Parker reports on feminists in love with Don Draper from Mad Men:

So get this: Women who encourage men to act like all sensitive and unmasculine aren’t really serious. Given a sufficiently alpha male suddenly the same rules and expectations do not apply. Look around. Double standards are the norm.

There is nothing that can induce casual hypocrisy in a woman like a good gina tingle.

Finally, Scott Locklin muses on the phenomenon of Stuff White People Like in Takimag:

In 21st-century America, life is soft enough that our over-educated upper-middle classes are able to do away with moral codes that serve a purpose, and adopt more byzantine ones which demonstrate their freedom from concern. I see this as a form of conspicuous consumption, a status marker for viewing themselves above the lower orders. A hundred years ago, wealthy men who were above the concerns of the peasantry would sprout preposterous top hats and hire a servant. Fifty years ago, if you had a job among the gentle people, you’d wear a nice suit. Nowadays, that sort of “I have arrived” directness is seen as gauche; membership in “polite” society is reserved for people who display the proper contempt for reality in manner and folkway. After all, if “you have arrived,” you need not believe in those outdated things the lower orders believe in by necessity. Flouting ancient moral codes is the postmodern version of the proverbial rich guy lighting cigars with $20 bills.

The pretensions of SWPLs will never cease to amuse.
