Like a flashfire spawned out of nowhere and consuming all in its wake, game has become the numero uno topic being discussed at many of the blogs I read. And like fire, the issue of game has a nasty habit of burning people who don’t understand it. A commonality among critics of game, from men going their own way to social conservatives to leftists, is confusion over what comprises its core. They assume that the sole purpose of game is to dress like a colorblind short-bus rider and sport-fuck your way through the female population like Don Juan on uppers. It pains me to see otherwise intelligent people who I agree with jam their feet into their mouths on this issue. Allow me to sprinkle the salt of facts on this slug of falsehoods.
First up, Anakin Niceguy penned a post in which he declares that Christian men should not use game, as it violates the tenets of their religion:
First of all, let us deal with the main goal of PUA theory: to seduce and bed women. PUA literature, with little or no exception, assumes sex outside the bond of a committed, godly marriage. There is talk of practicing and honing your skills on women.
The first problem with Anakin’s argument: he refers to game as “PUA theory.” It’s a common habit among those unacquainted with game to use the term “PUA” as a descriptor for all men who use it. This needs to end. Not everyone who uses and advocates game is a PUA. I’m not a PUA, and I’ve never used that phrase to describe myself. Come to think of it, none of the seduction bloggers I read use the term to describe themselves either.
Next, Anakin bases his argument on a false assumption, namely that the main goal of game is “to seduce and bed women.” That is not the primary goal of game, but a possible goal with game. The goal of game is to make it possible for a man to attract women, and what he chooses to do with this ability is up to him. If he wants to nail and bail a stream of women, that is possible. If he wants to keep and hold a girlfriend, that too can be done. If he wants to win a wife (not sure why, but we’re talking hypotheticals here), he can do that as well. Even men who aren’t interested in pursuing women have found some aspects of game useful. Game is nothing more then a tool, with its application left up to individual use. If it seems that the loudest proponents of game are hedonists, that’s because we live in a hedonistic era, and says nothing about game itself.
PUA only explains the behavior of ungodly women. Note, I didn’t say “non-religious” women. I said ungodly women. Doing “game” in order to attract a godly woman is like telling Christian women to wear slutty clothing and swing on a pole in public to attract godly men. It’s a false and unbiblical approach.
This is a gussied up version of the argument that feminists and other detractors use to dismiss game – it only works on certain types of women, namely “low-quality” women. Completely and utterly wrong. The core of game is about being an independent, autonomous man, about growing both a spine and a set. The outward manifestations of game are different depending on the type of woman a man is gunning for, but its heart remains the same, and it’s something that all women are attracted to. “Godly women” expect their men to be strong and patriarchal, and game helps them do exactly that.
One of Anakin’s commenters provides a bit of unintentional mirth:
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Thank you for saying what I’ve been thinking in my head for months. The PUA method will never work on a woman of God, period. She’ll smell those lies from a mile away.
I’ll reply with a comment I left at MarkyMark’s a while back:
The women who scream the loudest about how they don’t fall for players or how game doesn’t work on them are usually the easiest women for players to snag.
The louder you shout an assertion, the less convincing it becomes.
I’ll end with a reading from the book of Keoni Galt:
There are a lot of misconceptions of “GAME,” largely because the primary proponents are PUA like Roissy who practice and preach it to indulge in the hedonistic style of lascivious promiscuity made mainstream by the feminist movement and libertine cultural indoctrination by the mass media.
But the reality is, the very same mass media cultural indoctrination that was behind the loosening of sexual mores amongst secular women, is also the same movement that has by and large emasculated the typical Western Male…both Christian and secular.
GAME is simply reconnecting men to their backbone and their balls, and teaches men that they MUST be the dominant leader in a relationship in order to inspire respect, admiration and lust from their female partner…whether she be a wife, girlfriend or casual sexual partner.
Just as Nova pointed out, GAME is just a tool kit…an analytical observation of what behavior, attitude and demeanor is attractive to female biological hardwiring.
It is no more sinful to “game” your wife than it is for your wife to put on some sexy lingerie for your visual arousal.
Studying game to learn to reassert positive masculinity would HELP any Christian male learn to become the true Patriarch…the biblical role Men are charged with as heads of their household.
How many loveless, sexless Christian marriages do you know of, Anakin? How many have become nothing more than an institution of begrudging, religious duty? I know, because this is how my parents have remained married.
And it’s all because my Dad has fallen under the white knight chivalry notion of Christianity that instills this mindset that females are inherently superior in morality and character…and that women should be deferred to.
This is what “Game” calls “Beta” behavior, and it absolutely KILLS your wife’s attraction for you. She will develop marriage killing contempt the more beta you become. Even if she dutifully fulfills her wifely duties in the spirit of her religious convictions…this visceral contempt will embitter her and affect their marriage negatively.
While some of you Christians may get stuck on the notions of PUA, and the proponents of it that practice promiscuity in this fallen world, you need to realize this: GAME…whatever you wish to call it…is actually VITAL to sustaining a proper, Christian based marriage. When the bible commands that a wife submit to her husband’s authority, IMO, it is literally a biblical command for the Husband to “GAME” his wife…establish his social dominance that will lead to a happy marriage that thrives when each person fulfills their godly ordained gender roles.
The Lord is with you, and also with you. Amen.
Next, Mark Richardson disputes the notion that using game is an effective way to happiness:
There are some popular websites which advocate men learning game to be more successful with women. I’ve read some of these sites with mixed feelings. There’s some good advice about typical female testing behaviours and how to respond to them. But the gamists themselves don’t seem all that content, despite claiming success with many attractive women.
I think it’s because game isn’t enough – it doesn’t change the dispiriting conditions in which modern dating takes place.
Mr. Richardson refers to individuals who advocate game as “gamists,” which is an improvement, I suppose. As for “chang[ing] the dispiriting conditions in which modern dating takes place” – no one argues that game will change anything on its own. What game does is help men work within the existing system in the short-term to sate their lusts.
The entry concentrates on what Richardson calls the “decoupl[ing]” of love and sex, and I agree with many of his points, but he starts losing me at the end.
It’s worth noting that Kathy Dobie is the modern girl par excellence. She has written a book about her own early sexual experiences. She came from a good family, but at the age of 14 she began to chase boys for sex and, as a sexually liberated modern girl, she went for “the confident, aggressive, dirty-minded ones.”
Why did she do it? She explains in the book that she wanted to feel “as alive, as bold, as free” as the bad boys around her (which makes her sound like a vitalist – as someone who responds to a nihilistic culture by seeking out sensation and excitement).
Or maybe she did it because the “bad boys” made her gina tingle (everyone in the Roissysphere has used that phrase at least once, so here I am).
So let’s say you’re a young man and you are confronted with modern girl culture. You meet women who choose to have sex with the “confident, aggressive, dirty-minded” boys and who aren’t psychologically oriented to love or to attracting love or to the entanglements of something serious.
Even if you learnt techniques to make you fit better into the confident, aggressive category of man, would this really satisfy? Wouldn’t it be dispiriting to exist within a culture in which sex is both decoupled from love and from any meaning larger than itself? In which women aren’t oriented to love?
Um, yeah, it would satisfy. It’s not an ideal, not even close, but it certainly beats beating it to Hustler, the only other option for guys without game.
But it often seems to be the case that gamists have accepted the modernist conditions, and then I don’t wonder that they seem discontented even when they get more of what’s on offer.
Accepting reality is a prerequisite to changing it.
Here’s a sampling of good comments from Mr. Richardson’s post:
“Free love” was debated and rejected by the Soviet Union. Of course it would be, it’s the one thing that would have made omegas and betas get on board with communism; men would have been too happy.
For better or worse, game is a natural consequence of unrestrained female sexuality.
While this is depressing, it’s reality. Women have near absolute freedom in society. Mostly, they want hookups with exciting, dominant guys. As much as they can for as long as they can. This is what women want, and men either adapt to this or be alone.
Better to have transient hook-ups than no sex at all.
Sex and love are human needs, and these days, the options for a man who wants to get his crotch candle dipped are limited. Using game is the most effective way for men to fulfill those needs. Without it, men are left in the cave of the modern world without so much as a wet match to guide their way. So long as the Western sexual marketplace is a boiling cauldron of entropy, I will use game and advocate that other men interested in women do so as well.
