I’ve posted a few times before on the importance of being a male in good physical health to produce good quality semen. I’ve also posted on concerns that vasectomy seems to have a potentially very damaging effect on relationships. Now read on with a couple of quotes from Scientific American.
“…semen has a very complicated chemical profile, containing over 50 different compounds (including hormones, neurotransmitters, endorphins and immunosupressants) each with a special function and occurring in different concentrations within the seminal plasma. Perhaps the most striking of these compounds is the bundle of mood-enhancing chemicals in semen. There is good in this goo. Such anxiolytic chemicals include, but are by no means limited to, cortisol (known to increase affection), estrone (which elevates mood), prolactin (a natural antidepressant), oxytocin (also elevates mood), thyrotropin-releasing hormone (another antidepressant), melatonin (a sleep-inducing agent) and even serotonin (perhaps the most well-known antidepressant neurotransmitter).”
So having accepted that semen has all this good stuff for mood enhancement for women in it, it seems fairly clear that on an abstract sort of a level, women would want to open their legs and have a supplier come over and give them a dose. It’s for their health after all.
So what happens if women have sex, but don’t get semen into their vagina? Exactly what you’d expect…
“The most significant findings from this 2002 study, published with criminally modest fanfare in the Archives of Sexual Behavior , were these: even after adjusting for frequency of sexual intercourse, women who engaged in sex and “never” used condoms showed significantly fewer depressive symptoms than did those who “usually” or “always” used condoms. Importantly, these chronically condomless, sexually active women also evidenced fewer depressive symptoms than did those who abstained from sex altogether. By contrast, sexually active women, even really promiscuous ones, who used condoms were just as depressed as those practicing total abstinence. In other words, it’s not just that women who are having sex are simply happier, but instead happiness appears to be a function of the ambient seminal fluid pulsing through one’s veins.”
So the old joke about a cranky old broad without a sexual partner “just needing to be fucked” is pretty much true. I also wonder aloud again if a common consequence of a husband getting a vasectomy is the wife getting depressed. Then the wife as a consequence of her depression ends the marriage or otherwise acts out badly.
There’s also a sort of a chicken and egg thing at work here for low sex marriages where the wife “just isn’t in the mood” or is depressed and feels unsexy. As mundane as it sounds, perhaps in an experiment where she just lubes up and consents to higher frequency sex regardless of her mood, she may very well experience a lifting of depression and a return of feeling more sexually interested. There is also a moderate amount of testosterone in semen and that will help trigger her sex drive as well.
If you can sell that experiment idea to your wife, anti-depressants take about a month to fully kick in so I’d suggest at least a month long attempt at trying this together. It doesn’t have to be circus tricks clever sex, just some old fashioned in and out and cumming inside her. Afterwards she should take a couple of minutes to soak it in rather than jumping straight up and looking for a wash cloth to wipe it off. The vagina is actually a pretty good place for absorbing medication.
Admittedly “I’m here with your meds” isn’t the greatest of pick up lines, but there is a proven link between female depression and a lack of semen. The woman’s Body Agenda is particularly sneaky here, her own body actually willing to make her feel unhappy to force the seeking out of a male partner. The male Body Agenda is perfectly happy to set him up as her pharmacist / drug dealer. I’m not saying it’s pretty or politically correct, just brutally effective at getting males and females to come together and do the thing that makes the babies. Our genes are selfish little bastards that care nothing for anything other than passing themselves on.
Oh and I’m not really able to prove that semen is in fact better for female mood than chocolate. That just seemed like a good title for a post. But if anyone wants to be part of a private study…
