I wanted to share a couple thoughts from the workshops I’ve taught since starting up the program again a month ago.
DAY VERSUS NIGHT:
Day game is still the most popular option (even most of the night instruction I’ve done has come from guys also doing the day game portion). A lot of men are simply not big on drinking and don’t want to spend time dealing with attitude, inebriated girls, cockblockers, and other distractions. On the other hand, night game is still the best venue for getting fast sex (sometimes within a couple hours), and a reasonable choice if you’re a moderate drinker. The trend I see is that guys like myself start off with night game in their 20s and then ease into day game once they lose interest in the bar and club scene. If you’re starting to learn game in your 30s, your best bet is with day game.
SECRET SERVICE STYLE RADIOS:
During the day workshop I can hear the entire conversation in my ear piece (the fact that it’s live makes me feel like Agent Smith). In version 1.0 of the workshop most of my suggestions were related to body language since I couldn’t hear most of what was said, but now I’m able to give feedback that is more related to game content. For instance, one thing I’ve noticed is that guys tend to fall back on ineffective conversational habits, such as asking personal questions when they run out of interesting chat. It usually takes about 4 or 5 approaches with my constant harping until the student starts to step away from them, and until then it’s common to see a guy commit a mistake just one minute after I told him to avoid it. Some things are so ingrained that I have to beat it out of the guy.
The radios don’t work very well at night. I only hear bits and pieces of the conversation because the background noise is too high. So now I just stand as close as I can to the student.
THE VALUE OF DEMONSTRATION APPROACHES:
I enjoy demonstrating approaches, especially since it’s the only way I’m meeting girls at the moment, but I’ve come to the realization that demonstrations are ineffective to a newbie. A guy can watch me get numbers/make-outs all day but then when he approaches he hasn’t taken anything from it.
When you want to learn a new song on an instrument, listening to someone else play that song over and over again doesn’t increase your ability to play that song. Instead you need to hear it once to know how it sounds, and then you get to work with repetitions. Since my game is mostly calibration, meaning it can vary greatly depending on the girl I’m dealing with, watching me can actually hurt. Though if the girl is cute I insist on demonstrating.
My hope with day demonstrations is for you to understand how to maintain a convesation before the girl starts to invest herself. For example, in the clothing store I sometimes do an approach with a bundle of plain socks to show how it’s possible to have a conversation with just about anything. The sock prop was a joke at first, but I’ve developed a sock routine that has become pretty effective. I guess it’s one of those things that you have to see to believe.
NIGHT WORKSHOP THOUGHTS:
The day workshop is nice and structured. We visit a venue, do a couple approaches, then on to the next one. The night workshop is more chaotic. While there are breaks to talk about previous approaches, it’s not like during the day when we relax halfway through over tea and cookies. The mixture of alcohol, brutal cockblocks, and a surplus of dudes can have a demoralizing effect on new gamesmen. You need a tougher shell if want to crack night game.
That said, if you want to unnerve people in a bar, simply write in a notepad. About five times per night workshop I hear “Why do you have a notepad? Are you a journalist?” Some guy even asked, “Are you transcribing the conversation I’m having with my friend?” Yeah, asshole, your jokes are so amazing that I have to write everything down.
NEW REVIEWS:
I wanted to share a couple reviews from new workshop attendees. The first review is from blogger Neo:
We rehearsed the openers before each venue. There was a beautiful girl who had entered the coffee shop at some point while we were reviewing the manual.
Roosh: “That’s the type of girl guys get into the game for.”
I agreed. She was really attractive, if I saw a girl like this on a regular day I wouldn’t do anything, but I had to go for this. So I opened with one of the openers Roosh gave me and began a simple conversation. On the inside I was nervous, but the conversation flowed really well using the techniques Roosh taught me. She was studying for the LSAT and we shared the same ethnic background. Having dated a couple of girls in law school I also knew their hot buttons. About ten minutes later I had her number.
Roosh: “How do you feel?”
I was on cloud nine, this was one of the best looking girls I have ever gotten a number from.
We continued through DC, going into each venue. The only issue was the lack of quality of the girls around. After the first girl I set my bar pretty high, I only wanted to approach very attractive girls. I had to prove to myself that I could build interest with girls who were supposedly ‘out of my league.’
We went to a bunch of different locations where I approached and Roosh did some approaches as demonstrations. One of the reasons I took Roosh’s workshop and like his style is that he doesn’t promise a magic pill. Quite the opposite, he says that getting good at game is a lot of practice and hard work. Before the workshop started he told me what types of closing percentages to expect. Roosh’s approaches were a lot more relaxed and flowed better than the ones I did, I could tell that he had done a lot of them. We even did some hilarious approaches using outlandish items we found in the store. It made the workshop fun, and showed me that approaching girls is really no big deal and nothing to take seriously at all.
You can read the whole review here. Next up is an email from another student that I received three days after he took the day workshop:
In other news: first daytime number close! Cute 18 y/o Mexican (thought she was Colombian) who happened to be obsessed with [my country] and wouldn’t believe I was [age]. Walked and talked for 10+ minutes, ended with: “So you want to grab a coffee tomorrow?”, “Well, I don’t really drink coffee”, “Ok, want to do something else then?”, “Yes! of course!”, then number exchange. Would be a little surprised if this doesn’t convert, but logistics are going to be rather interesting.
Point being, this never, ever would have happened more than 3 days ago! Didn’t think it would be this easy :)
The number of exclamation points in his email might suggest it’s fake, but I assure you it’s not. Sometimes it’s not a matter of me making the man, but bringing the man out. Here’s another review:
I had a great time during the day game workshop and it was a lot more fun than I had anticipated. The workshop was exactly what I needed because my biggest problem was getting past the mental barrier and fear of doing an actual approach.
Strengths: The templates that we used were a great starting point on how to approach a women. This helped because the hardest thing about an approach is the beginning and these openers helped ease our nerves a bit since they seemed like simple conversational pieces. The venues that we went to were very diverse and it made me realize how I can pretty much run game in locations I didn’t think were possible
Weaknesses: There isn’t much that I would say an improvement is needed. This workshop was about running day game and I don’t think there is anything that wasn’t covered. In my own case the only thing that I wished was to receive the workshop manual a little earlier so that I could study/memorize the material better and try to figure out my big bait material. The manual was top notch, not too big but straight to the point. I will know it like the back of my hand.
The post workshop report was the best feature since I forgot a lot about what happened during the approaches after the fact. It helped me to get an overall idea of what I need to focus on in the future.
Overall the workshop is something I would definately recommend to friends or anyone else who I thought had the same issues. I will give myself time to work on my game for now but I think I would be open to another workshop at a later date for either the night game workshop or to tweek my day game even further.
While the game curriculum is the same for every student, I like to offer custom tweaks to individual men. For example in this student’s report I told him to introduce touching into his day approaches, a targeted suggestion that would give him more mileage because of his unique personality.
