There seems to be some that believe that after a collapse of Western Civilization, there will be a brief period of tyranny, followed by the flowers of democracy again.
It’s not going to happen.
Historically the last time democracy flourished was more than 2000 years ago, that’s not a brief span of time.
We no longer live in a democracy, or even a representative republic, which was made abundantly clear when the vast majority of people in this country were against the bail outs of the banks, GM and everything else, and yet in their infinite wisdom congress went the other way because they know better.
No they don’t.
If they had listen to the people, we would have had a harrowing year crash, followed by a boom. Instead we have a slow death.
We live in an Oligarchy. With the illusion of voting, for people that will ignore us.
When this gets swept aside, it will not be a new democracy in its place. (although we may still ‘vote” in sham elections)
The answer is quite simple why not.
The new people will want to keep power.
As for justification: Why would someone embrace a political system that failed?
One merely has to look at our current dis utopia and realize that the democracy experiment has bubbled over.
To give the very people that took democracy and voted for bread (welfare, government support and every kind of government program) and circuses and give it back to them is foolish.
They don’t deserve it.
