Yep, we’re starting a new weekend tradition. Renfield of the week will go to whichever ding dong in the news we think has sold out men for a cheap gain or other worthless trinkets.
This week’s renfield is Spain’s Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero.

Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, a self-proclaimed “feminist”, pledged before the European Parliament last week to advance gender equality in the EU and “eliminate the scourge of violence against women”.
Because, you know, violence against women is so much worse than violence in general.
The campaign has seen the number of women killed in Spain by their partner or former partner fall from 78 in 2008 to 55 last year, the lowest level since 2002 in a country known for its machismo culture and which had previously lagged behind its European partners on gender equality.
Any decrease in the murder rate is good. As of 2008 Spain had a total population of a little over 46 million citizens, of those 23.2 million were women and 20 million of those were over the age of 15. Yeah, Spain really has a problem that needs the heavy hand of the government to create additional laws singling out men for domestic violence.
A 2006 study found that as many as 1.5 million Spanish women had been victims of domestic violence at least once in their lives.
What’s that? A little over 5% of all the females in Spain? I am curious to know about DV rates against men. Oh wait, that doesn’t ever happen. Nevermind, they’ve got an epidemic in Spain that the loving caring tools like Zapatero need to solve.
