Every society needs them.
A way out for those people that don’t fit exactly with the mainstream.
There are usually consequences for those choices though.
Christianity provided the monastic live style for both genders as a way out of the marital lifestyle and traditional gender roles. That obviously had strictures and consequences.
The Norse allowed women in certain circumstances to renounce the female role and take on the role of the male. allowing them to own property, raid, bear arms, vote at the althing.
(And yes they voted just like pirates voted, something people forget in “celebrating” democracy)
But the women that took on the male role, had to stay in the male role. As soon as they left it, they left all the power of the male role in exchange for the female one.
I bring this up because a society needs an out for people who can’t, won’t or are unable to conform to societies traditional expectations, but those outs have to also come with consequences.
They provide a necessary release for the human spirit, but also a necessary frame work too.
Our society has traditional expectations for one gender, while none for the other, causing our society to erode.
The “You can have it all” mantra of feminists, The you go grrl! lies is destructive, not just in the sense that it is impossible to have it all, and thus causes greater unhappiness, not just in the difficulties it cause by women trying to have it all and thus destroying their families, their children, their employers business, their country. (and I lay all of it at their feet).
It is destructive because it is one more attempt to erode consequences for actions, one more attempt to provide freedom without consequences.
Women envied men their supposed freedom, but men have always understood that there are consequences for their role in life.
They did not always hear the first words a child spoke, they were not the ones their child turned to for comfort. They were not the one’s their sons and daughters called for when they were in trouble, or on the battlefield, or the ones that received the affection of their children.
The father’s aid often came through the mother.
The reality is you cannot have freedom without consequences. Ever. If there are no consequences, you have the freedom of a child. Not the freedom of an adult.
Even the wealthy are not free, they are chained to their money, they are surrounded by sycophants, never being able to trust anyone not to be after your wealth.
Feminist have gone full circle from saying women were treated like children to demanding that they be treated like children: free of the consequences of their actions.
The end for it is coming though, The end of western civilization, The end of freedom from consequences. The end of freedom for most.
I have no sympathy, no mercy for the bitter tears women will shed when this happens.
