We have two categories for posts titled The Law is a Heartless Bitch and The Tyranny of Government. So today I find this story about a little girl who just wanted to sell lemonade. You know, like kids all around the country do during the summer thinking they’ll make money. Good little capitalists that they are.
Problem is, at least in the state this girl lives in, there is a $120 temporary permit that is required by state law. Without the permit she could be facing a $500 fine. Nothing like putting the kid so deep in the red that she’ll never make her money back. Oh and lest you think that the permit was required because she was at a neighborhood fair, think again. According to the health inspectors, the permit is required even if you’re selling the lemonade on your front lawn.
The county health inspector sounds like a complete tool, which of course he is. Five will get you Ten he’s a officious, hipster, SWPL piece of shit.
So for all of you with kids out there it’s time for a little civil disobedience. Get out there with your kids and sell lemonade in violation of the law.
