A quick public service announcement to my fellow MRA, PUA, and MGTOW bloggers.  If you choose to quote a female writer, give her attribution in your post, link to her post, and identify the website she writes for, please be aware that there is a high likelihood she is the type of person who does vanity searches on her own name to see what others may be writing about her.  If that is the case be ready for all kinds of accusations, shaming language, and histrionics.  End service announcement.

Now, what, you may ask, generated this announcement?  Well, on Sunday the author quoted in this post apparently performed a vanity search of her own name.  I know this because there was one instance of ‘her name’ under search engine terms that people used to find this blog.  After finding my post she left this comment on the ‘contact us’ page,

Take down my article that you published in pieces and quoted out of context while adding your own commentary in the middle. Post the whole thing, link to The Frisky or post nothing at all. If you have an opinion about what I write, leave it in the comments section on my blog or on The Frisky. I get paid to write for websites and until you are paying me too you do not have my permission to steal my articles.

Now first of all, I did not publish her article in pieces.  I quoted it in five places.  The majority of her article is still at the link listed in that post.  ‘Out of context’ is a funny thing.  On television and radio it seems to be a very easy and typical thing to parse someone’s words and take them out of context.  For a written venue where a link is provided to the original content, I think it is very easy for a reader to judge whether or not that is the case.  In this instance, I disagree with her contention.

The way her second sentence is written I’m left to conclude that I should do one of the following:

1. Post her whole article, or

2. Link to The Frisky, or

3. Post nothing at all.

That is how I originally read that sentence as it was written.  However, I am sure she meant that I should do 1 and 2 together, or 3 if I’m unwilling to do 1 and 2.  Why should I comment there when I can do it here?  I have no need to leave a comment at the cat lady site.

Now I understand that being a paid writer is a difficult job.  I flat out deny stealing her article and as I said in my reply to her comment:

I linked to the article, said you were the author, and believe that what I quoted was fair use, however, since you requested it I have removed the portions I quoted.

See, I’m a reasonable man.  Don’t believe me, go back and click the link to the original post.  All the full sentences I quoted are gone now.  I did add two update comments.  Here’s the first one,

[name removed upon request] still swallows some of the pretty lies of feminism, but it could be possible she’s waking up to some of the damage.  Then again, maybe I’m just dreaming. (UPDATE: Yep, just dreaming)

And here’s the second one,

UPDATE:  Fair use, linkage, and attribution doesn’t seem to be enough for [name removed by request], therefore we have removed the quoted portions of her article.

Was it over there?  Ha ha, do you need to ask?  We are dealing with a western woman who feels aggrieved.  [name removed] did one more search of her name and came back at me with another comment on the contact us page.

I found your commentary misogynistic, elementary and idiotic and, therefore, don’t want my name associated with you or this blog. It’s one thing to quote my article in it’s entirety but it’s quite another to take sections out of context to fit your agenda. I do not appreciate the petty comments you added after taking the quoted portion down but I guess it’s to be expected. In the future, you could avoid this by coming up with your own ORIGINAL content. What a novel concept.

You see, if a man says anything critical of women or feminists he will automatically be labeled a misogynist.  That’s Code Black shaming language and as I said in my reply to her comment, totally expected.  The elementary charge is Code Green, and the idiocy charge is Code Brown.  Big deal, I’ve heard it all before.

Here we also find the true reason for her rage.  She doesn’t want her name associated with a man and a blog critical of feminism and women.  That’s fine by me.   I removed all instances of  her name anywhere on this blog.  Anybody commenting using her name will have their comment edited to remove it.

I guess she considers an honest assessment of her request(s) to now be petty.  I have to give her an ‘A’ for effort.  She really was trying to get an emotional rise out of me.
