Since Sunday is “news talk show day” about the previous week’s current events and biggest newsmakers, I thought I’d give a bit of astrological context to he whole discussion. Before I begin, please let me say that astrology has long played a role wrt political, social and economic commentary going back to monarchs and military leaders of ancient times; so what we’re doing today is in keeping with tradition.
Also, a word to the haters (read: “skeptics”): please, do us all a big favor, and keep your thoughts to yourself, or take them elsewhere. The minute they come up on my board, they’ll disappear. I’m done with arguing with folks who can’t even be bothered to even crack open a book on the subject. If and when I feel like it, I may devote a thread to you all and IF you’ve done your homework, we can have a respectful, and informed, discussion on the matter. But not today. Please do not try me. You will not like the result.
OK, so with all that said, let’s dive right in…
Without a doubt, the biggest name in the news in the past week, has to be Delaware US Senatorial candidate Christine O’Donnell, who, on Tue, Sep 14, 2010, roundly defeated GOP moderate and longtime fixture Mike Castle by a whopping seven points-an upset if there ever was one. She has the full backing of the Tea Party movement, and after a bit of agita on the part of the GOP hierarchy, the day after the elections they closed ranks behind O’Donnell, as she prepares to take on the Democratic nominee, Chris Coons, on Tue, Nov 2, 2010. O’Donnell has been dubbed “Sarah Palin East” by the Chattering Class, mainly for her populist appeal and her good looks. Astrology confirms both, and more, about Ms. O’Donnell.
Christine O’Donnell was born on Aug 27, 1969 in Moorestown NJ, according to Wikipedia; no birthtime is known, but just her birthdate astrology is striking.
Among other things, O’Donnell was born on a full Moon in Pisces. This alone accounts for her being seen in some circles as “looney” or “whacky” for her religious, social and sexual views. But aside from this, having a high-powered Moon in one’s horoscope says something else: it suggests that the entire chart is “energized” by the power of the Sun. This is because the Moon reflects the light of the Sun, takes it and distributes it to the rest of the planets in the horoscope; moreover, a strong Moon like a full one gives the entire chart more “juice” than a chart with a dimmer-lit Moon, all things being equal.
Then, in O’Donnell’s case, being a political candidate, having such a high-profile Moon matters significantly; in mundane astrology, which concerns itself with political, social and economic matters, the Moon is taken to represent the general (voting) public and Women in particular. In order to vie successfully for public office, one needs to win over enough of the public who will vote for an support you. So having a well placed Moon helps tremendously, and if one studies very popular politicians they will find that the Moon in their charts tend to be well placed. O’Donnell’s Moon is free from blemish, ie, not having any hard aspects on it from challenging planets. These Lunar factors alone account for her success.
But wait, there’s more!
We also observe that her Venus is in Cancer, the Sign ruled by the Moon, and is in aspect to Neptune in Scorpio, and Pluto in Virgo. This is a very favorable combination bestowing good looks and “sex appeal”-and keeping in mind her already having a full Moon (in Pisces, often a good looking Sign for Women), well, we see the results.
What’s really interesting about O’Donnell’s chart (using the standard practice of setting the horoscope for 6AM and applying Solar houses when the birthtime isn’t known), is the fact that she was born with *three* Mutual Receptions, *all involving Venus*: Venus exchanges places with the Moon, Venus exchanges places with Saturn, and Venus exchanges places with Jupiter. In all these cases, Venus comes out the winner in these interplanetary “swaps”, giving her even more power and influence. Yet another testimony for her good looks, sex appeal, and influence as a female candidate (O’Donnell identifies herself as a feminist).
We also observe that Mercury, Uranus and Jupiter are all in triple conjunction in Libra, along with Mars unaspected in Sagittarius-all combos that speak to a capable debator, being able to improvise on the fly. The one fly in the ointment is Mars in Sagittarius’ tendency toward rampant opinionation, putting one’s foot in the mouth, etc. Provided O’Donnell’s handlers reign this tendency in, she will have a good chance in her debates with the highly favored Coons.
If we more closely examine O’Donnell’s Solarscope, we can get a better understanding of her religious and sexual views. Saturn is in Taurus and retrograde, in her Solar 9th house, the house of religion. Saturn here, in my experience, will tend to manifest one of two ways: either in terms of atheism, or in terms of religious dogmatism, and by all accounts, the latter seems to apply to O’Donnell, a Roman Catholic. Which is very interesting, since the current Pope, Benedict XVI, also has Saturn in the 9th house(!), and was seen as a kind of “enforcer” of Catholic doctrine in his days as Cardinal Ratzinger.
We also note that Saturn in O’Donnell’s Solarscope rules her Solar 5th house, the house most associated with sexuality. Capricorn here could speak to a kind of frigidity. Venus is the ruler of the Solar 9th, one of the sexual planets of astrology (and interestingly enough, the Vatican’s Venus is in its 9th house in Taurus!), and goes there due to being in mutual reception with Saturn, highlighting the focus on her sexual views. Taurus, on a Sign level, has always been seen as rather conservative, as does Capricorn on her Solar 5th house, and her Virgo Sun (whose symbol is the Virgin Maiden, after all!).
Finally, when we consider the astrology of election day, last Tue, we note that the Moon was applying conjunction to O’Donnell’s Mars, while Pluto was exactly square her Uranus-a classic symbol of overturning the status quo. Mike Castle, who was also born on a full Moon, this time in Capricorn, didn’t have any supportive election day astrology going for him; indeed, on election day, the Sun sat right on his Neptune(!), the latter planet always being a big challenge to politicos. But can she win in Nov against Dem fave Chris Coons? Unlike Castle, Coons represents a much harder challenge; his natal astrology backs this up (and which I’ll get to in the comments). The election day astrology looks favorable to both candidates as well-suggesting to me, that the poll results will be close.
