In light of more recent exchanges…
A question I have for Deery is this:
I’ve been thinking about all you said here; I have to ask you, what is the point you’re attempting to make here? You say that you read some blogs but don’t actually comment but on a select few. You then say that you like to have “balance”, ad that this, along with a need to avoid a nasty atmosphere plays a strong role in the why’s and wherefores of what you post and so on. I get all that, but what I’m having trouble with is why do you do so here? Especially given what I’ve told you over and over again? You certainly aren’t converting me; I can’t say for sure, but I don’t think you’re converting anyone else either.
You said that you read Roissy and disagree with about 90% of what he says; why don’t you comment there? Why don’t you bring some much needed “balance”-given that you’re a Black Woman, and his is a forum which has said things about Sistas that make anything I’ve said look like a glowing tribute? Why?
I just don’t know why you single me out for frequent commenting, given that we don’t seem to be even in the same room. In fact, by all accounts, you seem to zealously defend your inability to emotionally relate to me (and perhaps by extension Black Men?); this is the second time you’ve mentioned your “MB type”, almost as a rationalization as to why you do things as you do.
I mean, I could get it if I came off as a quant blogger, a science blogger, etc-you know, a blogger who said, I am someone who deals in hard facts and data, not doctrine. Then, if I get the facts wrong, I can totally get you coming in to take me to task.
But you don’t do that. You seem to want to do something which fundamentally has no place here. What point does it serve? What is the point? You know, for someone who prides herself on using her brain, one would have thought you would have considered all these questions a very long time ago.
So, I have to ask Deery-why are you here? What do you hope to achieve, and why do you make it your business to make my blog one of the few on which you comment? It’s like you acknowledge where I’m coming from, but still you do what you do. It’s like there’s a disconnect or something. I tell you that I’m blogging about my impressions, my feelings about the world around me, that its art, not science; and yet you persist in coming here to discuss science. This is why I call you a piss poor listener. Because it seems that no matter what I say, you just don’t get it. And you insist on shoe horning your view in here somehow, as if I give a shit. Or anyone else.
I’ve never met you, so all I have to go on is these internet interactions-but if I didn’t know better, you don’t have a heck of a lot of empathy, Deery. And that makes a lot of sense given your MB thingy. That’s fine, but if that’s the case, then you will not be able to “get” Game either, and that’s what trips a lot of guys up about it-because in order to be successful with Game, you have to understand where Women are coming from. You have to be able to see life through their eyes. I honestly don’t get the sense that you see things from my side of the river, so to speak-and worse, you’ve made it quite clear that you have no intention in the least to even try.
So, I really don’t get why you’re here, Deery. Again, given your keen intelligence, it is quite baffling to me that you haven’t really considered all this.
