Dragnet’s been on me forever and a day to write a bit as to how I got into Game, my own personal journey, how I found my own niche, etc. So this post is gonna talk about that a bit.
I got into Gameby way of Roissy in DC, actually. I’d heard about him via, I think, Steve Sailer’s site. I’d been reading Sailer on and off for about a decade, and had always been interested in his take on things. I believe I saw a few comments by Roissy and decided to checkout his site once he got it up and running.
I had read Roissy’s site for a good six months to a year or so, off and on, before I began posting; so we’re talking about late 2007 or so, something like that. I began posting there in the Fall of 2008.
I was deeply impressed with Roissy’s understanding of Human Nature and what makes people tick, especially along sexual lines, and especially as it related to Women. One of the few subjects that ever motivated me in my school daze, was Psychology, and I would conduct my own social experiments in the years that followed my formal schooling, just making observations of people and taking notes about the results of my own experiments.
One day, while reading a post he wrote in response to reader emails, Roissy gave a shortlist of Game-related books. I jotted them down and ordered them up from Amazon that week. When they arrived that weekend, I shuttered myself in and read them all nonstop and back to back-The Mystery Method, The Game, The Art Of Seduction, The Red Queen. I’ve always been something of a voracious reader, so knocking off large tomes was all par for the course for me; but this time around, it was like stepping into another world.
I say that because, reading all these books only made clear the many things I had observed over the course of my life, and not just my own experiences, but those of others, Male and Female alike. In fact, it was my recalling of my observations of others, that really came together as I was reading the work of Mystery and Style, of Greene and Ridley.
Game only focused my inherent gifts and made clear what I had already seen and done-for example, take the Seven Hour Rule, a maxim by Mystery that says that it takes anywhere from four to ten hours of comfort building time to get a Woman ready to have sex with you, with an average of seven-I’d done this before and didn’t know it. Another example was the PAS, or Proximity Alert System-which is another way of saying that when a Woman is attracted to you, she may “present” herself in a way that, to the untrained eye, is completely innocuous-Women always have to have plausible deniability, yet another “blast from the past” so to speak. Anyway, PAS is a very important principle to keep in mind, because lots of guys lose out on opportunities to get with Women due to their lack of social awareness. Which is yet another thing I found extremely valuable from studying all these works-just how socially attuned and sensitive Women, in aggregate, truly are, and just how clueless Men in aggregate, are along these lines.
Of course, all of these works, and the general community which spawned and/or endorsed them, were, well, White. And not only that, but of a certain profile-college educated, White Collar, kinda nerdy, etc. The kinds of approaches, methods and the like were, for an inner city born and bred Brotha, a bit cumbersome, if not downright weird, and worst of all, highly unlikely to work. I know, because I tried them, LOL.
So, I decided to take what parts of Game, as propounded by the community, to work for ME, and chucked the rest. Oh, to be sure, I studied it, I just didn’t apply it in the field in which I found myself. I didn’t do it to give myself some kind of edge or whatever, it was just a purely pragmatic move on my part.
So, take for example, the many “canned routines” that lots of Game types teach and advocate-well, you really can’t do that with Sistas. As a rule, Black folk living north of the Mason-Dixon line aren’t all that chatty with people they don’t know, and this is especially true of Black Women. What you really need to do in order to be successful with them is set yourself apart from everyone else-which, luckily for guys like me, isn’t as hard as it sounds at all. In order to make it with Sistas, you need to Peacock like mad, and that doesn’t mean painting your fingernails black (or any other color) or wearning outrageous hats. It simply means setting yourself apart, visually, from the droopy pants/Timberland boots/oversized shirts/skully wearing Brotha multitude. The point is, with Black Women, and I think I ought to know as I’ve dealt with them all my life, you need to get their attraction FIRST, and the best way to do that is to look really nice.
Which wasn’t that big a leap for me at all, as I’ve always been a more “gentlemanly” type and eschewed the droopy pants style that is and has been envogue among a significant portion of Black Men for sometime now.
That’s another thing: in Greene’s AOS, he gives a list of varying types of seducers; he advises the reader to pick the one that most closely resembles their own personality. It was a no-brainer for me: I’m a Dandy, through and through. So much so that when I actually studied the history of Dandyism it couldn’t be any other way for me. Game works best when the person studying it is very introspective; this is hugely important, not only because of the aforementioned, but because so much of a Woman’s life is internal. And if you want to be successful with them, you have to see things as they do.
Anyway, choosing the best “type” for yourself is also very important, because of what is known in Game circles as “congruence”-whether what you project matches with who you are on the inside. Women are very good at sniffing these sort of things out, and this is known in the community as “shit tests”-and if there’s a discrepancy between what you say and what you do, you’re in trouble. So, you have to experiment if you don’t know yourself very well.
As for the name, LOL, that’s interesting. As I was going through the project, I realized that everyone in the community had a “seduction name” and I wanted one, too-hey, I’m the type of guy who, when he takes on something, doesn’t go halfass-I go all the way. So, while I was still an active member of Roissy’s blog, I asked around for suggestions. After a few really lame ones, LOL, a poster named J5 suggested “Obsidian”, because of the fact that I’m Black, sharp, smooth and potentially lethal-the cauldron of scalding passion and power, laying just beneath the surface of a smooth facade. That it comes from the Earth, that it is elemental, all of that, made it the perfect choice for me. I was sold. Obsidian, it is.
My own “style”, if you want to call it that, LOL, is actually a kind of hodge-podge of things, both Game and non-Game related, but all from central aspects of my own life. For example, I “wield” a kind of modified version of the Mystery Method, combined with key insights from The Prince, The Art Of War, certain Martial Arts disciplines, most notably Aikido/Daitu Aki-Jujitsu/Kali/Krav Maga, and the Kama Sutra/The Perfumed Garden, the Bible & Qur’an, to name just a few. My style is a lot more “passive”, in that I bring the action to me, rather than run about like a chicken with its head cutoff trying to get the attention of others. I then take the energy of others to use it for my purposes. But, do not get it twisted-when I need to, I can be brutally efficient, ruthless to an extreme-and I project that in a way that others pick up on it, and decide to deal in a more reasonable way, lest things go in a more unpleasant direction. At any rate, when it comes to the topic, one of the reasons why I’ve never encountered “Last Minute Resistance” is because I never chased the Woman down-it’s been the other way around. In fact, as a general rule, I don’t chase Women, and this is something I’ve been doing for years before I stumbled upon Game as its currently known in the wider culture. I simply present myself in a way that separates me from all the other Men, much like setting down a clean glass of fresh spring water in it, next to a dirty glass with muddy water in it. Women are very smart and saavy human beings; they know which is the better choice.
I also incorporate a kind of Code with my Game, which is something I notice not a heck of a lot is spoken about in the community at large; I won’t lie, cheat or steal in general, and I definitely won’t do it to get in a Woman’s pants. Real Gamesmen never have to do such things, because Women abound, and are an endless resource. Moreover, he doesn’t have to deny his needs, desires or urges. I’ve found that if you’re straight up with a Woman, she’ll pretty much go along with what you want to do, if she’s that attracted to you in the first place.
So yea, that’s pretty much it in a nutshell. One of these days, I’ll scour what’s left of the Roissy archives, scrub the posts and present them here in a kind of archive file for more details on all I’ve just written above. But the aforementioned, this post, should do the trick. For now, at least.
Holla back
