…while waiting for my General Tso’s Chicken at the Chinese Takeout joint.
I walk in, I see a slightly crazy Brotha in there, mumbling to himself & talking about how the Asians treat him and other Black folks so badly, caring about nothing but the money. He goes on a few minutes more, then sits down to my left and plugs his cell phone in the outlet to charge it up.
A minute later, So & So City’s Finest rolls up, five, six squad cars deep, burst in the store, takes Crazy Brotha and slams him up against the wall. They’re looking for drugs.
One of the gung-ho White cops turns to me, trying to grab on me. I say, I don’t know this Man, I’m just here to get something to eat. He says I’m gonna check you out, I say no, you’re not, and that’s when he and about a dozen other cops put their hands on their burners. The lone Perfunctory Black Cop on the scene of course, does nothing; and images of Amadou Diallo and Sean Bell go through my head.
I relent.
Pinned down by a phalanx of Blue, they rifle through my pockets. They ask me questions, which I then refuse to answer-after all, if I’m being treated as a suspect, anything I say can and will be used against me, right?
They try hard to find something on me. When they don’t, they have to let me go. My aviator shades can’t hide the scowl of disgust on my face in looking at these dudes.
I’ve either lived or worked in most of the Eastern seaboard’s cities: Baltimore, NYC, Newark/Jersey City, Washington DC, Detroit, Atlanta-and without fail, I have managed to be accosted by the Po-Po. Some call it “Driving While Black”.
Since I don’t own a whip, how about merely Breathing While Black?
Maybe somebody out there can help me with something.
We hear the HBD cats bitch and moan about “Black Crime”. A lot. In fact, its hardly a day or a week that goes by before you’ll hear somebody in those parts yet again, whining, bitching and moaning about it.
Yet, as I’ve said for like the umpteenth time, none of these dudes actually lives in areas where “Black Crime” is a concern. I, on the other hand, do. I know more about “Black Crime”, up close and personal, than the bulk and mass of these jokers will over the course of two lifetimes.
Yet, you don’t hear me whining and moaning about it.
What’s up with that?
We live in a post-racial America, alright…
…and if you go for that one, I got some excellent bridgefront property just south of Manhattan at a great price for ya…
Comment & reply, holla.
