Why Does Jamila Hate On Sistas So Much?
Wow-and the hits just keeps comin’…
After a more than a month and a half long hiatus, everyones favorite Little Clever Black Silly is back with a fresh round of inanity, soft reasoning and self-hate. Frequent readers of the O-Files know that I take a particular pleasure in dismantling this mental imp’s blatherings, but for newer readers, a bit of background is in order; you can check em out here and here for starters.
The great novelist and Nobel Prize winner Toni Morrison once famously said that we “write what we know”; our host proves this yet again (since she herself had a kid out of wedlock while quite young; does this mean she too has “low future time orientation” and if not, why?), with an Oct 4, 2010 post where she takes gratuitous broadsides at poor Black unwed singlemoms. Her argument is, because Black folk have a “lower future time orientation”, Black Women are less likely to use birth control, at least the kind that you have to take daily, like the Pill. She therefore advocates Black Women being counselled to take other, longer forms of birth control, like those shots or Norplant, that sort of thing-and-that we need to get over notions that to specifically counsel poor Black Women to do this is somehow “racist”; after all, it’s for their own good!
Of course, it never occurs to the Little Black Clever Silly that those Women actually PLANNED TO GET PREGNANT (For more on this point, see Hacker’s books Two Nations and Mismatch; also the excellent work Promises I Can Keep by Edin & Kefalas). Ever heard of the so-called “Pregnancy Pact Girls” up in Gloucester? Oh yea, that’s right, I forgot, they were White, and so doesn’t quite neatly fit into our dusky-hued maiden’s HBD talking points script. But the facts, are the facts, regardless of what she may think(?) otherwise.
In fact, unwed pregnancy and OOW births is fast becoming a “White” thing, if one just takes a quick scan of the US Census-each year brings with it a higher percentage of White Women having babies as single moms. In fact, the White OOW birthrate circa 2000 was equal to or higher, than the Black OOW birthrate circa 1960-and growing. And let’s be clear here-we’re not talking about the kinds of White Women you see on Maury. We’re talking about White, professional Women who are at least nominally middle class and are well beyond their teenage years; the last figure I saw in this regard held that the average age was around 25 or so. Murphy Brown, anyone?
Speaking of which, another inconvenient truth our Clever Black Silly refuses to see or recognize, is the serious cognitive dissonance when it comes to so-called “Choice Moms“, who deliberately have babies, not just out of wedlock, but to do so in a way that the kid(s) have almost no way of knowing who their father is; at least the Sista around the way knows, or has a pretty good idea, of who the Baby Daddy is and can pick him out of a line up. Although our society has been cowed from taking a brutally hard look at the ethics-and since it gets the Dusky Maiden all hot and bothered-HBD implications-of a bunch of heretofore Women ill-suited for marriage and motherhood by way of natural selection-as to whether them having the means to do so sans any lifescript (read: get married, raise their kids at home with the dad) in the name of “Women’s Rights“, the evidence is slowly being unearthed that it ain’t just Rashida and Deondrah in the hood that we need to be worrying about, but an ever-growing number of Murphy Browns who, with the help of the turkeybaster, are having babies, too-and the research is clearly starting to show, much to the Feminist Lobby’s chagrin, that being a single mom, even when you control for education and income, is still a raw deal for the kids (add an order of magnitude if the kid is male). Indeed, the very fact that such a “Murphy Brown” state of affairs can exist so blatantly, to say nothing of the aforementioned reality of more White Women in general becoming Baby Mamas, really undercuts any notions of having “discussions” around “unplanned pregnancy” on the part of “poor Black Women”. The whole thing is a farce, and calls into question exactly just what motivates people-especially Women-like the Ms. Little Clever Black Silly to post such nonsense in the first place.
But, as quoted above, we write what we know. If the Dusky Dingbat wants to know why poor Black Women are having babies at ostensibly inopportune times, all she need do is take a long hard look in the closest mirror.
Bang, there it is.
Stick to hitting the books, sis. If you try real hard, you just might get a “B” instead of a “C” this time around…
