Those familiar with what some have coined the Roissysphere will know well a certain lady blogger who refers to herself as Lady Raine, and burst onto the Roissy scene earlier this Spring, after getting word about the Crimson Gamster’s exploits online. Acerbic and snarky, irreverent to a fault, Lady Raine soon gained the ire of the regulars who frequented the place, to say nothing of the singular focus of the host himself.

A match made in heaven, was born.

Several months later, as I recall, Roissy put up a post asking whether Lady Raine was a pornstar, and featuring photos taken, presumably, from her MySpace page. I didn’t like the move-it was beyond petty and small-minded, and veered off into the downright meanspirited category-and worse, it did nothing to edify the readers, or add significantly to the considerable body of work that Game is, and that Roissy, say what you will of him, has indeed made legitimate contributions to. As the ensuing comment-thread shows however, I was in the minority opinion.

Last month it seems, Lady Raine had had enough, and decided to fire back, seeing Roissy’s low blow and lowering the bar another half a foot, by posting what she claims to be not only Roissy’s likeness (which he has always obscured), real name(?) and place of employment (again-?), along with adding her own commentary, which I found to be sophomoric in extremis. But, aside from the obvious breaches in decorum and “just looks bad” nature of the whole enterprise, what truly disturbed me about Lady Raine’s “revenge”, was that she deliberately used, then vociferously defended and justified, a now seen as universal slur of the Anti-Semetic kind, repeatedly referring to Roissy as “Jimmy The Jew”. Whether R is indeed Jewish or not-and according to him, he isn’t (my understanding is that is is a mixture of German and Italian, with probable Catholic roots religiously), the point remains, that Lady Raine did no better than that which she accuses Roissy of, among other things, low character-and as has been pointed out by several observers on her blog (ladyraine.wordpress.com, easily found via Google search), she’s actually crossed several ethical, if not potentially legal lines in her quest to sock it to the R-Man.

Let my voice be counted among the multitude here. Not only do I agree with the aforementioned commenters, but I would also go so far as to say that Lady Raine has done nothing to advance the discussion, enlighten observers, edify minds or change hearts-if anything, she has only given legitimate (in their minds) ammo as to the reasons why they view all or most Women with a raised eyebrow, if not out and out disdain, even hatred-which was Lady Raine’s chief criticism of Roissy in the first place. Now the Men that regularly frequent his site, can point to her as Exhibit A as to what is wrong with the world today, backed up by her many comments on the Man’s site itself, and her more recent activities in this regard on her own.

Talk about shooting oneself in the foot.

Nor will she have made any lasting changes wrt Roissy In DC-it would not surprise me that his site got MORE hits and/or comments since her “salvo”, not less-and let’s be honst here. I have on quite a number of occasions, publicy, openly and vociferously disagreed with Roissy myself, and will do so again without hesitation as the need arises. I have deep and abiding, fundamental areas of real contention with him, and do not share quite a few of his attitudes and stances, not just wrt Women, but wrt to Life overall.

But, on the issue of Game, the Man has studied to show himself approved. ANY Man who uses ANY part of Game, as explained by him, WILL become successful with Women. I’m the living proof of that. In fact, I’ve even gone so far as to say that the questionable, from my standpoint, facets of Game, and/or his take on them, work-I just choose not to implement them myself, for philosophical reasons.

If Lady Raine truly wanted to show Roissy up, she could do it not by attacking the Man-which is always a sign of intellectual weakness at most, and intellectual sloth at least-but by systematically dismantling the Man’s *argument*. Love him or hate him, Roissy’s understanding of Game-Human Male and Female Sociosexual Dynamics-is deep and profound, and it is not for nothing that his name has become, in less than three years’ time, synonymous with Game itself.

And since I can hear Lady Raine simply dismissing the Roissyites as mere losers and haters of Women, particularly those like her who are self-assured, supporting and the like, riddle me this, My Lady-could it be possible, that the very fact that Roissy’s site attracts so many Angry Young Men, says something about the zeitgeist of our times? Do we simply dismiss, out of hand, the palpable anger and discontent, as the impotent blatherings of life’s losers? We as a society, as a civilization, did that in the days following Sep 11. How’d that work out for us?

When so many Men, from so many walks of life, who wouldn’t know each other if they bumped into each other at broad daylight in Times’ Square, all have such a deep sense of anger wrt today’s dating scene, simply calling them all “haters” ain’t gonna get it. Say what you will, but Game is an honest attempt, to address a real, deep and profound need among Men. And none of us would give a damn and taking up considerable bandwidth, if it didn’t WORK.

Lady Raine, we’ve had some degree of interaction over at Roissy’s, and last night, after carefully reading your blog’s contents, decided to leave you a comment of my own saying that I would be taking up this issue here at my place. Please know that I bear you no ill will, and have no personal axe to grind with you; indeed, if anything, we actually have two very important things in common. One of them, was in starting a blog, either directly or indirectly, as a result of the Man who refers to himself as Roissy.

When I began my blog-which was more in response to repeated requests of well-wishers who had seen my postings at Roissy’s and elsewhere and urged me to do my own thing-I gave a great deal of thought as to why I would be doing it, what I would say that would be different, and how it would make a difference. Blogs come a dime a dozen these days, and in the Gamesphere, theorists and self-styled gurus abound. And in my quiet space, after much due meditation on these things, that voice said to me, that it’s important to be the change I want to see, to show others the way through my own example, to try to bring as much light as I do heat. This blog, is an attempt to do just those things. What your own will ultimately turn out to be, is of course, completely up to you.

The other thing we have in common is a deep interest in, and in my case love, for Astrology-and since you’ve been so gracious in offering your own horoscope data, I think it is most fitting to briefly speak to that in light of our discussion. You like to stir things up and be provocative-in fact, it may (or may not) surprise you to know that you share a chart very similar to Feministing.com founder Jessica Valenti, and the similarities in “voice” are quite striking. But, and I would suspect this would be true for Ms. Valenti as well, now that you have made the transition from mere bystander to being a player on the field, you have to decide whether your voice will be used FOR something as much as it was against something previously. When it’s all said and done, what will you have accomplished? If it’s for mere ego-aggrandizement-surely not an illegal, or even immoral, pursuit so long as its clearly stated-by all means, knock yourself out. But you see, I know Scorpio Women quite well, and they seek Power. Power to change things.

But with great power comes great responsibility, and you are at a time in your life when you will get quite a lesson in this principle-one way, or another. For you specifically, you must learn that it is not your place to see to it that those whom you dislike or disagree with, get their just due comeuppance. Vengence, is mine, sayeth the Lord, and if indeed those arrayed against you or on the wrong side of history, it will be borne out in due course of time. Failing to heed this lesson can and most likely will land you in situations where things boomerang back on you.

My work is almost done here. I truly hope a ceasefire in the War is called soon, because I really don’t see much point in the whole affair, from either side. Afterall, you didn’t have to comment on the Man’s blog at all in the first place. In the end, it was you who made the first move.
