A few Christians decided to “save” some people at the Pride parade, and showed up with signs denouncing drunkenness and pornography. Although I don’t think this was the brightest idea, I’ve got to admit that it takes some balls to show up at a Pride parade as an open Christian. Naturally, they were assaulted, but what’s notable is how the assault was instigated.
Basically, a woman, possibly named Rhiannon Sherbon (someone with that YouTube Name claims to have been the woman in the video), provoked a big, dumb fat man into attacking them. The woman was harassing the Christians and assaulting them herself. She was doing everything possible to provoke them. Her repeated efforts attracted attention, and some idiots stepped in and started shoving the Christians, too.
Punches were thrown (none by the Christians), police arrived and arrests were made. Immediately, the woman began speaking to the police in an attempt to get the Christians arrested. She may have been successful, as one person in addition to the fat man was arrested, and it may have been the younger Christian. The female provocateur was not arrested, although she clearly should have been.
Lest anyone say that the Christians provoked the Pride marchers, it should be pointed out that the first Pride parades in Seattle were held in my old neighborhood, which was still a largely Catholic neighborhood at the time, and despite the blasphemy (e.g. drag queens dressed as nuns), public sex and lewd behavior – all highly provocative to Catholics – marchers were never assaulted by Catholic residents.
