Allow me to venture for a moment into the ethereal world in which women seem to live. One devoid of hard facts, logic and reason, that tends to aggravate them so when used to defend a position. You see something has been happening. It began about a century or so ago when they decided to slowly adjust their standards of modesty and reached a tipping point in the 1960’s when it was determined femininity was weakness. To exhibit certain feminine traits was to yield that much more power to the oppressive patriarchy. Becoming more masculine in dress, manner, speech and actions was viewed as claiming that power from men. Becoming a man became the new woman, because supposedly men had it so much better.
Almost everything that defined a woman or womanhood up until then has given way to being more like a man. While, depending on the occasion or their mood, they still cling to certain aspects of female styling’s such as the dress, lipstick, bra and shoes, they otherwise dress like men; never sure when looking female might work to their advantage. Imagine a world where men decided to dress and act like women? Women wouldn’t like it. But we men, such as we are, can overlook a lot of things in the spirit of sexual conquest. (Obviously we have been, up until now.) Because underneath that pantsuit or those jeans, we know there must be a real woman, and sometimes there actually is. It’s our physical drive to copulate and social pressure to be mated that keeps us coming back for more.
But a shift is starting to happen in this utopian unisex world feminism forced on us. As women become more and more “masculated” (tellingly not a real word), with each post-60’s generation, they’re starting to become strangely less appealing. Not physically, but emotionally. Their indignation and self-righteous attitude towards guys would be enough, but they don’t need us anymore and proudly rub it in our faces. And part of what defines a man is being needed by a woman. Like the lyric from Foreigner’s 70’s anthem, “Feels Like the First Time”, “It’s the woman in you that brings out the man in me”.
I’m not asking women to become helpless dependent waifs. I’m asking for at least some gratuitous gestures of femininity, because nothing makes a man feel like a man more than being needed by his woman. And when this male need is dismissed as showing weakness to his dominance or whatever other power dynamic deemed to be untrendy by feminist standards, you’ll strip him of his opportunity to show you his love. It’s not his fault, it’s his nature to provide and protect. If it didn’t feel so God Damn fulfilling to do it, he never would try. But that’s not all.
A consequence of this modern female empowerment and independence has also affected young women in a negative way. They’ve adopted this hyper-sexualized persona. Usually fueled by booze and peer pressure, there’s a “slut culture” developing that’s been very unhealthy. As young men show less interest personally, young women are feeling the need to over-emphasize their sexual availability in very immodest ways. Ironically this sexual exaggeration for male attention is turning decent young men further away or at a minimum they respect women less than ever before. So much for “empowerment”!
And so here we are facing each other at high noon in the interest of happiness and more importantly continuing the species; women stand steadfast on feminist principle, while increasingly informed men turn away. For every unnatural/forced encroachment into masculinity, you’ve given up an equal portion of femininity, or what ultimately attracts us to you. You’re losing your sexual power over men, as you’re becoming rather dysfunctional hybrid versions of men. Is that what you want? One side of the mouth spews empowerment and independence (from men), the other side asks, “Where are all the good men?” Where? You don’t need us and we need to be needed by you. And no amount of sexing yourself up will change that. Bring back womanhood and “good men” will re-emerge. Or stay an empowered, independent, sassy career gal on the go and die bitter and alone.
You can’t “have it all”. Choose manhood or womanhood; a hard charging careerist or a wife to a man and mommy to his children (as you were meant to be). But first, look around and ask yourself what happiness really means to you. Ask how much you’re willing to sacrifice to attain it; beating men at their own game in the daily grind or turning hard against the feminist grain and embracing who you were meant to be all along.
