Thanks to commenters, we’ve been tipped off to an emerging trend of feminist political ads.
In an attempt to motivate women to vote in the Florida 8th district election, Alan Grayson’s campaign has commissioned an ad comparing his challenger Dan Webster to the Taliban, calling him “Taliban Dan Webster.” The ad features quotes taken entirely out of context by selective editing, suggests that American Christians are in league with the Taliban, and generally slurs Webster in a very underhanded, dirty manner.
Alan Grayson is apparently a committed feminist who supported the Paycheck Fairness Act, so the ad may accurately represent his true beliefs.
It is starting to look as though the Democratic Party has dropped all pretenses and is plainly becoming the feminist party. I wonder how that will work out as a long-term strategy. To me, this is a huge disappointment. The party my Teamster grandfather relied on to stand up for working men has stooped to selling the sons and grandsons of their most dedicated supporters throughout the 20th century down the river for the single/working female vote.
