I noticed a post in A Voice for Men written by John the Other taking Mr. Nolan to task for his lies and mischaracterization of the facts in an article he wrote blasting men’s and father’s rights groups. Personally, although I’m indebted to him for the link and drawing my attention to this guy, I think John was too easy on Mr. Nolan, who is one of the worst sort of extremist ideologues.

Some years ago, Nolan produced a documentary titled No Way out but One, which Fathers and Families exposed as a gross distortion of the truth. The documentary, full of vicious smears against Mark Collins, a man found innocent of any wrongdoing by numerous court officials, judges and psychiatrists despite a litany of accusations by his ex-wife Holly, celebrates the criminal actions of the mentally disturbed ex-wife who, after losing custody, absconded with her and her ex-husband’s children across the Atlantic to the Netherlands, where some idiotic Dutch liberals actually gave her residence (she claims, but cannot substantiate, that she was granted asylum) for alleged spousal abuse. As an act of gratitude, Holly Collins proceeded to make accusations of abuse against her Dutch neighbors.

Glenn Sacks’ Fathers and Families did such a good job of investigating and discrediting Nolan’s documentary that I suspect his recent hit piece against men’s rights groups is a form of retaliation; a sort of poke in the eye for having made him look bad.

Nevertheless, No Way Out but One continues to be presented as a serious documentary in prestigious universities such as MIT, probably partly because Nolan’s partner in producing the video – Garland Waller – is a professor at Boston University.

So let’s take a look at the facts here:

Barry Nolan just wrote a piece calling men’s and father’s rights groups “dangerous,” and suggested everyone ought to be “very, very scared” of them.

Barry Nolan produced an anti-male documentary based on a heap of lies, and supported the criminal actions of a mother who lost primary custody of her kids, and then decided to commit a felony to remove them from their father and take them overseas, where she immediately hooked up with a Dutch man and had four more children within four years, making her a mother to seven children by three different fathers. In fact, she not only kidnapped Mark Collins’ two children, but also one more child she had with another American man named Jeff Imm. Naturally, the US federal government ignored her crime, leaving Mr. Collins to mourn the loss of his children, who now repeat their mother’s unproven accusations (they were very young when she fled with them).

Nolan has ignored the anguish and pain that at least two fathers have suffered at the hands of a woman who has left a trail of wounded and broken family members – including her parents and sister, who also fell victim to her accusations – in her wake. In fact, he fully supports everything she’s done, and he has the nerve to call us dangerous…

No, if you’re a father it’s people like Barry Nolan, promoters of the big lie, who are dangerous.

It’s time to start calling a spade a spade. Men have been taking this kind of abuse lying down for far too long, and we’ve just started standing up for ourselves. There is absolutely no reason we should sit back mild and mute while men like Barry Nolan slander innocent fathers with impunity. The consequences of inaction are far too severe. Losing custody to false accusations and biased courts is bad enough, but when people start promoting outright kidnapping we are getting into truly dangerous territory.

I think most fathers would have some pretty strong feelings toward a man responsible for taking away their children by force or deception. Barry Nolan, in promoting kidnapping, would be that kind of man. Think about it for a minute. Feel free to be angry about it — that’s normal and healthy.

But keep your cool, collect your thoughts, and decide what you’re going to do about it, because anger is useless without action.
