As a father whose children watch Sesame Street, I found the recent controversy over Katy Perry’s video with Elmo both amusing and somewhat perplexing. Sure, her breasts are hard to ignore in the video, but I’d think little kids generally have some recent experience with that, and it’s hardly shocking these days.
But what I really thought was funny is that Elmo appears to be using “Game” on Katy Perry. Now, I’m no expert on Game, but I have read about many of the techniques on Roissy/Chateau’s Citizen Renegade blog, and it seems that Elmo is taking charge of the frame, using kino, keeping her on her toes, etc. In fact, Elmo’s so good that he’s got Ms. Perry chasing him all over town. She’s so hot for the little guy that she snubs that clearly interested beta dog who appears after Elmo runs off.
Perhaps that’s the real objection Sesame Street had to the video — Elmo isn’t being a sufficiently beta, obedient creature who does whatever the women want him to.
No, Elmo’s got Game, and he’s definitely an Alpha male.
Obviously, that was too much for the feminists at Sesame Street, who must have been deeply dismayed by how easy it was for the little red rascal pull a hot number like Katy Perry. Rather than run the risk that some four-year-old boys might begin to emulate their hero and start running Game on the playground, Sesame Street pulled the clip and evicted Elmo’s admirer from the show.
Fortunately, we can watch it on Youtube:
