It’s common for people to say that men are more likely to cheat than women, but is this really true? Actually, the question should be “is this really possible, and if so what does it mean?”
Simple logic and arithmetic dictates that for every cheating incident (amongst heterosexuals), there is a man and a woman. So, it could only be possible for there to be more male cheaters if we define cheating only as breaking one’s vows, and exempt the other party from the “cheater” label.
However, if more married men are cheating than married women, it logically follows that more single women are sleeping with married men than single men with married women. Therefore, if it is indeed true that married men cheat more often, then single women are more apt to be homewrecking sluts than single men.
Additionally, if more married men cheat than married women, and cheat more often, then married men have on average more partners than married women. Given numerical parity during prime sexually active years, this means that single women must have more sexual partners than single men. Given that married men are more likely to cheat with younger women, it also means that single young women have significantly more sexual partners than single young men, including among them married men.
So, if we accept that married men cheat more, and it may be possible (although I personally suspect the difference is negligible before the age of 40 or so), then we will also have to accept the following:
-Single women have more sexual partners than single men
-Single women are more likely to be homewreckers than single men
-Young single women are the most sexually promiscuous of all heterosexuals, and have more sex and more partners than any other straight people
Sadly, I’m afraid all of the above are true. If you are a young man, keep this in mind. Chances are good that the girl you met at the bar is getting laid a lot more than you.
