A Las Vegas women’s shelter employee, one Benedetto Vitale, has been arrested for forgery, lewdness and sexual coercion following allegations that he tried to pressure a woman into sex:
North Las Vegas police arrested a man Tuesday on suspicion of coercing a woman into committing sex acts at the local nonprofit Safe Nest.
Police said the victim had to work off her court-appointed community service hours over a traffic violation at Safe Nest’s donation center, at 4208 Arcata Way, near Craig and Losee roads.
When the 24-year-old woman reported to the facility, she spoke with its director, Benedetto Vitale, 59, who police said tried to coerce the woman into committing sex acts in exchange for signing off on her work hours.
Safe Nest is a nonprofit agency dedicated to helping women who are victims of domestic violence.
Being a feminist is a requirement at these women’s shelters, so there’s little doubt that Vitale was a self-identified feminist, despite being male.
In some cases, declaring themselves feminist can give men access to females, particularly the damaged sort who stay in women’s shelters.
Although it is not widely known, women’s shelters are not typically frequented by ordinary housewives living in terror of their husbands, but rather dysfunctional women who have a hard time keeping their lives together. Many of them are chemically dependent, mentally ill and have problems with the law. They are what one might call “easy targets” for predators, and predators – both male and female – tend to gravitate toward target rich environments.
Rather than keep up the lie that most women who need support and services at women’s shelters are victims of men in general, we should recognize that they are simply the most dysfunctional and vulnerable members of their sex, and while they deserve basic humanitarian care, their interests are not best served when they are used as pawns to promote a feminist political agenda.
Indeed, in many cases they would be safer and better off in the company of a male family member than in the hands of feminist women’s shelter employees.
