Nicholas Kristof, a NY Times writer who is probably the most notorious white knight in journalism, just wrote an article about a Somali woman named Hawa Abdi, who is his model for Islam. According to Kristof, the main cause of “Islamophobia” in the US is the blown out of proportion incidents wherein women are punished for one thing or another, such as the case of a woman who is on death row in Iran for planning and carrying out the gruesome murder of her husband with her nephew, who was also her lover.
According to Kristof, people in the West are in a militant fury because of these incidents, but apparently bombings and terrorist attacks on their home countries have much less influence on public opinion. That may actually be true in the circles Kristof runs around in.
So, the solution, according to Kristof, is to put women in charge in Muslim countries where they can, among other things, preferentially educate females, give priority to women’s health concerns and throw men in jail (just like us!):
An American freelance journalist, Eliza Griswold, visited Dr. Hawa’s encampment in 2007 and 2008 and was stunned that an unarmed woman had managed to create a secure, functioning oasis surrounded by a chaotic land of hunger and warlords. Ms. Griswold helped Dr. Hawa start a school for 850 children, mostly girls. It’s only a tiny fraction of the children in the camp, but it’s a start…
In addition, Dr. Hawa runs literacy and health classes for women, as well as programs to discourage female genital mutilation. And she operates a tiny jail — for men who beat their wives.
“We are trying an experiment,” she told me. “We women in Somalia are trying to be leaders in our community.”
This is the kind of Islam the US wants to hold up as an example for our Muslim allies and enemies: one in which women are in charge and men are cowed and neglected.
Lately, the feminist rhetoric at the highest levels of government is louder and more strident than anything I’ve ever heard in my life. Feminists are calling for the removal of some of the most basic elements of justice and human rights, men who have angered the US government are being arrested on trumped up sex crime charges made possible by extraordinarily intrusive feminist law, and our Secretary of State is calling for domestic violence kangaroo courts to be set up all over the world solely for the purpose of jailing men.
Even as there is a dawning awareness amongst Western men that something is gravely wrong with family law, and that feminism has gone way too far, it has suddenly become the state’s guiding ideology. Democracy? Bah, that was so 2000; now nothing short of absolute women’s equality at any cost will do. Is this the beginning, the end, or the beginning of the end?
