A little off-topic here, but it turns out Osama was living in a large compound just a short walk away from the Pakistan Military Academy in Abbotabad, one of the nicest towns in Pakistan. He was also in close proximity to a golf course and a couple hospitals.
Clearly – obviously – higher-ups in Pakistan knew what was going on. Someone who knew a lot about these things once suggested to me that he was probably living in luxury and under protection, possibly in Bangladesh, but it’s still shocking to see that our so-called “allies” were protecting him. All the better reason to get our troops out of the region, go home, and leave these double-dealing scumbags to themselves.
Maybe we should drop a few dozen JDAMs on the military academy as a parting gift…
