Bills are piling up again, so it’s time for me to ask for help keeping the site online. It’s been about seven months since the last time I asked, which is a good stretch, but I can’t wait any longer at this point.
First, a short update on how the site is doing. Daily unique visitors are running in the 3,500-4,000 range on the site proper during weekdays, and a bit less on weekends. However, I have noticed that people have started to read content more on the feed for some reason. Just the other day some 1,600 people accessed the content through the feed, which is a record, and the number has regularly surpassed 1,000 recently. Given the number of people reading each article on the site itself (about 2,000+ per article), I’d estimate that regular, near-daily readers number around 2,500. It’s much harder to get an idea of how many occasional readers are out there, so I’m not going to try to come up with a figure, but it would be in the thousands as well.
Overall, the numbers are fairly consistent, and neither growing quickly nor declining, although usage patterns have changed somewhat. It seems that readers see the site now as a regular publication offering content they enjoy reading, and I think that’s a good thing, because it shows more permanence.
However, publications, like all endeavors that require work, have to support themselves somehow, which necessitates this fund drive. Addressing the check or money order to my name (William Price) is fine, as I’m a sole proprietor and I’ve found that it doesn’t really matter for tax or accounting purposes at this point, although that may change again after I move and start working on outside projects again.
I’d like to thank all those who have contributed to the site over the years. Without your help, I never could have put as much work into it as I have or published nearly as many posts.
Because I’m moving and am going to be stretching things thin, I’ll keep posting reminders until I have enough to guarantee I can keep working on the site through at least the next quarter. I enjoy putting in the work, but I’m far from independently wealthy, so if you like to see the site updated regularly send in some funds and I’ll stick to it.
