Chuck Ross debunked an infographic some feminist made about rape and how pervasive it is, how rare false accusations are, etc.
The infographic is childish and stupid (like most infographics), but some pundits retweeted it as though it was a “sad commentary on rape culture” or something like that.
What stands out is that she suggests only 1% of rapists are jailed for rape.
If this is true, then we can extrapolate from Bureau of Justice Statistics that there are about 23,000,000 rapists at large. Actually, that would be an understatement, because that’s based on how many are under supervision on any given day. Given that the convicted sex offender population under supervision probably represents less than half of all those ever convicted, the true number must be over 50,000,000 men, or about a third of the US male population.
So, if feminists want the additional 99% of unconvicted rapists they claim to exist jailed immediately, we’d have to increase our prison population in the US by a factor of over 20 (we currently incarcerate 2.3 million people). This would increase our incarceration rate, which is already by far the highest on earth at 754 per 100,000 people, to about 15,000, or 15% of the entire US population.
Assuming costs rise in a linear manner on a per prisoner basis, our annual expenditures on incarceration would have to increase from about 60.3 billion to roughly $1.2 trillion — about a third of the recent federal budget, and nearly half of all revenue. Indeed, it would probably be more expedient to simply shoot every third American male (but then who’d pay the taxes?).
The absurdity of the feminist argument becomes clearer every day, but as in some of the totalitarian governments of the past century, few dare to point it out.
