Marginalized, ignored, and forgotten (until he is “necessary”)
By Ken Knight
In 1997 horror-writer Bentley Little published his aptly-titled novel THE IGNORED. It is about a man who is so average and fits into society so well he disappears from view, drifts into a state where his co-workers no longer see him, his friends don’t recognize him, his parents die and he’s not even invited to the funeral. He joins up with others like him, a tiny cabal of men in their own pocket of reality who validate each other in being ignored by those around them and seek “pay back” for the way they’ve been treated.
Though not nearly controversial as other man-cave classics like “The Satanic Bible” and “American Psycho”, THE IGNORED is a vicarious walk with fictional characters whom secretly lash out at society around them because despite their high education, white-collar jobs, and family-raising qualities, they found themselves “forgotten” by the very social order they’ve been serving. Art imitates life….or so they say!
Much has been said here at The Spearhead about the dynamics of “Alpha”, “Beta”, and “Omega” males in the human pecking order, but I’ll leave those three definitions to you.
What can’t be displayed enough is the ongoing “marginalization” of the American male as a whole from the home to the workplace and in the courts, the media/entertainment pitch on men in general being the least of our concern when it comes to Men’s Rights but media/entertainment denigration of men nowadays is at such an all-encompassing rate and delivery it would make Nazi Propagandist Joseph Goebbels red with envy!
What I mean when I refer to as “the invisible man” is a rather new phenomenon that has arisen through the radical egalitarianism to become a “result” few men who supported the feminist movement decades ago would have ever imagined could happen. It is the subtle but real vanishing of men from the College Campuses, the workplace (more especially in traditionally-male professions) and in the home with more and more single-parent homes each year in the US where the father of the children has been cast off to become only a paycheck each month.
Indoctrinated by Feminism, the past few generations of women have been inundated by the “men are sexist oppressors” and “men are replaceable” platitudes that flow freely from feminist doctrine through Congress to the Court room to the offices of media barons and motion picture production companies and of course preached in our schools and universities with casual aplomb. Should one not be too surprised when Susie, Franny, and Lilly act accordingly and overtly dismiss, marginalize, and work against the men in their lives without what appears to be a second thought? When what used to be a personality disorder decades ago is now afforded women from the board room to the gym room and even bar room, as countless men are in fact being viewed (and subsequently treated) as second-class citizens in their own country in a manner that should make civil rights lawyers scream to the heavens…..but it doesn’t!
Men are pigs, overgrown “boys”, or hawkish devils lurking about the office or workplace looking at Lilly’s ass in the tight mini-skirt she’s wearing…if he’s not her “type” and she notices him looking at her, she’ll lodge a formal complaint on the “creep” for “reckless-eyeballing”.
Men are harassers and potential stalkers who threaten women’s safety…
One too many dates asked for by a (unattractive) male suitor brings Franny into the Police Station to inquire about a “protective order”. Men are expendable and can be easily replaced in a woman’s life…if Susie becomes “unhappy” at some moment of discomfort in a relationship or marriage she simply ends it and gets police protection as well as Family Law Judges to usually decide in their favor when it comes to divorce.
Men are only good for one thing, making a woman ‘happy’… the modern sense of entitlement that abounds in many of our ladies out there is thick enough to choke a Rhino and despite the fact their demands for a man’s house, pension, property, and 18 years of economic slavery is slowly bankrupting a once great nation as a whole, it continues at full-speed-ahead without regard for consequences. Men have had it good for centuries and now it is a woman’s turn to ‘rule’…such inane entitlement-thinking stems from the darkest pits of personal insecurity and envy only the worst of tyrants take it seriously.
It is “entitlement” that makes one person view another person as “inferior” and allows for the other person to be minimized at first sight. Ask the survivors of Nazi Germany and Stalinist Russia about how this is the very beginning of something much worse later on.
How one group of people view another group of people is tantamount to how the first group is going to treat the second, that’s simple sociology sports-fans…now add in a media/entertainment “propaganda” machine intentionally bent against one group of people and the slant becomes far more insidious than simple comedy and fictional scenarios poking fun at men, women, minorities, etc. The score is pretty simple….
Now I could write volumes of examples of this phenomenon as others have written here, but suffice it to say that the “invisible man” is example enough and unless you are one of those rare cats who has a well-paying gravy of a career “on top” with the additional bonus of Clark Gable good-looks with significant amount of fame, a cool (expensive) car, and home/property to make just about anyone insanely envious of you, odds are you have experienced being “invisible” somewhere along the way at work, home, or in public.
The often-ignored “invisible man” is the everyday man, the bee-hive worker doing what he has to do for a paycheck and to stay afloat, viewed by many of the women he might smile at as beneath them, from the Secretary who hates the way the repairman looks at her but is glad the “creep” fixed the air-conditioning so she’s not sweating through her blouse, to the female model who grits her teeth every time she comes across an ordinary man she reluctantly speaks to as she yearns for the “alpha” she feels she is entitled to…..
Personally, I think this is where the derogatory term “Tool” fits the most, for that is what many a woman sees the men around her as, a “tool” in one way or another and only called upon when a “tool” is needed. Of course, thanks in no small part to the way Susie has been conditioned to think, she’ll likely dismiss you soon after what she needed is accomplished (without any thought to how “teamwork” makes the world a better place).
Catch is Susie…that ordinary guy you take for granted may one day see the futility of being anywhere near you when the shit hits the fan.
