Science fiction author Issac Asimov has, in addition to being incredibly prolific, achieved something that for the literary world is probably the equivalent of a Nobel prize: he has established an idea which has become accepted in popular consciousness and spread to become incorporated in the works of other authors. His “Three Laws of Robotics” can be recited verbatim by most serious science fiction fans, and references to them can be found throughout not just science fiction but other genres of literature as well.

The three laws are:
1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey any orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Given the common theme of fear of robots and other machines taking over and subjugating human beings – such as in movies like the Terminator series or the Matrix series – making robots “safe” was an important step in making the idea of them acceptable as a subject of literature, to a public often ruled by dark and irrational fears.

Dalrock has just written an interesting post on the decline of chivalry. He expresses a certain romanticized wistfulness over its loss, particularly the doctrine of “wimminsandchilluns first.” Unlike some other SoCons, he does not seem as deeply invested in desperately holding on to the old order in a much-changed world, and examines the issues refreshingly realisitically – for a SoCon, that is. (nudge, nudge, wink, @Dalrock) He examines the survival rates of passengers on the Titanic, and quotes these interesting statistics –

First of all, if you were a man, you were outta luck. The overall survival rate for men was 20%. For women, it was 74%, and for children, 52%. Yes, it was indeed “women and children first.”

The only problem is that it really wasn’t “women and children first”, it was “women first, then children.” Able-bodied adult women out-survived vulnerable children by a rate of almost 50%. If we would look at our culture as being like the Titanic, and feminism being the iceberg it has struck which has torn a huge gaping hole in the hull which keeps it afloat, the survival rate of children today is only marginally better. According to the Guttmacher Institute –

Nearly half of pregnancies among American women are unintended, and four in 10 of these are terminated by abortion. Twenty-two percent of all pregnancies (excluding miscarriages) end in abortion.

So, the survival rate of children on the “post-choice Titanic” is 78% at best, and only about 60% for those who were not “chosen.”

I have a personal story about this which particularly sticks in my craw. A young woman I know who is now in her mid to late 20s was the archetypal modern feminist woman. She had her entire life planned out by the time she graduated from high school –
1. degree
2. career
3. husband
4. children

The first three happened pretty much as she planned, but stubborn old mother nature just was not delivering those babies on Ms Modern-Woman’s timetable. So, she did the obvious thing and reached for the (fertility) drugs. They worked – too well. She became pregnant with triplets. “Oh, no, no, no, this just will not do! This was not the plan.” So, she went through a procedure euphemistically called “Selective Reduction” and practiced Sophie’s Choice on one of her 3 daughters to be. When I heard about this, I told her in a barely contained rage “Don’t you dare ever tell either of those surviving babies about this!!!!” I cannot imagine a greater curse to lay on a child than the nagging doubt – “What if I had been the one that mommy decided was just too inconvenient to let live?”

Kinda shines a bright spotlight on the bogus mantra “best interests of the child” doesn’t it?

Coming back around to the deck of the Titanic, I wonder how many of the women who got seats in those lifeboats while men and children died for their convenience had tried to play God, force her fertility, and then when playing God got out of her control (as it always does) killed a child in order to make life conform to her plan.

My money goes on “none.”

“Chivalry”, like every other term that feminists have gotten their hands on (“oppression, misogyny, patriarchy, choice, rayyyyyype”), has gotten totally twisted away from its original meaning. Where before it was part of generalized civilized code of behavior which bound all people into conducting themselves in a civil manner, it has now become unilaterally binding only on men.

In short, it has become the Three Laws of RoMANtics –
1. A manbot may not injure a woman being or, through inaction, allow a woman being to come to harm.
2. A manbot must obey any orders given to it by woman beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A manbot may protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Thus did the manbots on the Titanic not injure woman beings by taking one of those seats in the lifeboat which might have allowed them to survive (3rd and last law) nor did the white knights, who threatened manbots with guns to keep them from surviving, allow even the slightest off-chance that a woman being might be harmed by his inaction.

It is worthy to note that the well-being of other manbots is never even considered in the 3 laws. A manbot can at any time harm another manbot, or through inaction allow as many manbots to come to harm as is necessary to insure that no woman being is ever harmed. VAWA, anyone?

In recent history a few more laws have been added to regulate the existence of manbots –
4. Manbots, being machines and not woman beings, are not allowed to experience pain, emotion, or any sort of independent thought, and must at all times follow the orders of woman beings when she tells him what he “should” think, feel, say, or do. Robots (oops, I mean manbots), after all, must follow their programming – it is burned into their positronic pathways.
5. Manbots, being machines and not real persons, must endure any sort of attack and abuse by woman beings, and take it with prozac smiles on their faces, and absolutely conceal any reaction or evidence that they are being affected, lest they be attacked by women beings and other manginabots for “just being bitter.”
6. A manbot must provide any aid and assistance to any woman being who requests it, regardless of whether it conflicts with any of the above laws, and regardless of whether it destroys or terminates the life of any non-woman-being, or even the life of another woman being, if a woman being asks that it be done.
7. A manginabot must never allow any non-woman-being to say anything negative about woman beings (lest they come to harm by having bad things said about them while they are being so strong and independent) and must attack any other manbot with the audacity to criticize woman beings or in any way suggest that they are less than perfect.
8. In any and all instances where a woman being misbehaves, manbots must find another manbot to blame and punish for making the perfect creature woman being behave less than perfectly.
9. The only acceptable course of action for a manbot unable reconcile the inherent contradictions in all the above laws is to self-destruct.

In later years, Asimov added a fourth law which he indicated would take precedence over all the other laws by numbering it zero –
0. A robot may not harm humanity, or, by inaction, allow humanity to come to harm.

By instituting the (now) Nine Laws of RoMANtics, feminists, women, and WhiteKnightManginaBots have both harmed humanity, and by their inaction allowed humanity to come to harm. They allow women to kill one out of every 3 children they conceive, to avoid cramping their lifestyle or screwing up their plans. They have allowed women to become increasingly violent, corrupt, and less deserving of any sort of “chivalry.”

But, wait!!! Of course, I have left out NAWALT!!! As long as there is one good and decent woman left in the world, we are absolutely forbidden to even mention the ones who really aren’t. (see law #7)

Women, by their inaction in the face of the onslaught of feminine-ism, have allowed humanity to come to great harm. Aided and abetted by their loyal army of WhiteKnightManginaBots who vigorously pummel into silence any man with the audacity to even suggest that all is not well in womanville, they have allowed excesses and evil of biblical proportions.

But, there are some of us who feel the need to follow the Zeroth law and not allow humanity to come to further harm through our inaction.

We are the ones who refuse to knuckle under to the intimidation tactics of the wimminists and the WhiteKnightManginaBots, and simply say “I am not a robot, I am a man.”
