Much has been written and spoken in regards to the failed doctrines of communism, socialism, fascism, and feminism which will fill volumes and make for endless hours on any college speaking circuit. Personally, I take the “Ferris Bueller” approach: “I don’t condone fascism or any ‘ism’ for that matter,” as the character in the movie joked.
The one thing all of the “ism’s” have in common is their purported “dream” for humanity and the future society to come out of following its tenants and “savior” doctrines.
Pipe Dreams have a way of getting out of hand and for the most part should remain in the confines of one’s imagination due to the simple realization of humankind’s base nature being what it is. That Quixotic dream of a “Utopia” still haunts mankind like a scar that won’t completely heal, and there are legions of people who for one reason or another (often to try quenching a personal insecurity!) embrace a Utopian dream such as Communism, Nazism, Feminism, Theism, etc. holding fast to the idea that they can affect the future and “save” their fellow human beings and make life “better” as they see fit for generations to come. Whether it be financial and social salvation of the working-class or “saving” the white race from an existential threat, or perhaps “saving” the souls of everyone around them for God, many people will take up such banners and sacrifice everything they have in pursuit of their cause no matter how unpopular such a “cause” is in the mainstream populace. What drives such an obsession on the personal level? The possibility of success at the end of the tunnel…though I suspect the original Bolsheviks – who numbered no more than 25 originally – didn’t see the axe swinging once a blood-thirsty dictator named Josef Stalin took their “cause” to the extreme.
For most of the population experiencing such Utopian Dreamers who eventually delight in FORCING their dreamy agendas upon the general public once the jig is up and the bullshit actually doesn’t work very well (i.e. communist collectivism) the “Utopia” becomes a Dystopia! Though it may sound “reactionary”, I think it is the right-thinking man’s duty to remain watchful of and guard against extremist “causes” that creep into the mainstream however most people do not and before they know it, tyranny is sitting in the big chair and the public is wondering what the hell happened while they were asleep?! Feminism for example, has become more “evolutionary” than overt revolutionary in its crawling progress toward complete hegemony over the West, showing up in the folds of mainstream court decisions, media entertainment, and even workplace etiquette to the point where most men never saw it coming until such unfair practices and one-sided policies became enforceable law. “Give a mouse a cookie, it’s gonna want a glass of milk!” as the old saying goes. Once the blood of the “enemy” of such a “cause” is tasted, the revolutionaries only want more and more….justified by past “victimhood” and nowadays in the name of “safety” Whoever doesn’t like “safety” please stand up!
Is it entirely a “male” point of view that encompasses LIBERTY as defined by the coolest cats in our history, the American Forefathers? Is it a man’s point of view that there are inherent inequalities in life one has to accept or work around to achieve a life one is suited for and can enjoy? I may not drive a Porsche like my neighbor, I may not have a 12-inch tool or a girlfriend who posed in Playboy® nor may I be a Movie Star or the CEO of a Brewing Company, but hey…fair (fare) is what I pay to get on the Bus! Maybe it is an entirely male point of view, but it makes me remember the quote from Teddy Roosevelt: “Far better it be to dare mighty things than to take rank with those poor timid creatures who know neither victory nor defeat”. If Teddy wasn’t referring to “manginas” I’ll eat my cigar…
Realistically, all one needs is an open field of opportunity (as Libertarians speak about but rarely get quoted on) where you begin at the starting line of life and take off all on your own accord to win, lose, draw, or flush….no hand-outs, no guarantees, no special rights or quotas, nothing at the expense of others, and the only thing that is enforced upon individuals is one’s own responsibility (or lack thereof). However, this “Agoge” credo is not acceptable to those legions of people whom inherently fear life and its endless dangers, uncertainties, unfairness, meanness, and sometimes catastrophic consequences that may or may not affect them as individuals.
Many want the Utopian Dream of total “fairness” enforced by the State so that they as individuals do not have to worry about discrimination, financial collapse, or the inherent differences between men and women, and when some politico tyrant-wannabe offers such a plan for Utopian fairness and future dreams of easier living, they vote that way!
Karl Marx is over a hundred years in his grave, Susan Sontag and Betty Friedan no longer with us, but the alluring “Utopian Dreams” continue to be formulated, mapped out, and acted upon with clever processes by people who think they have their fellow humans in mind as they try to implement such foolish designs one way or the other!
When the rest of the populace resists, the iron glove of tyranny gets pulled out of the old dusty drawer once again… how dare the masses disagree with such a grand plan for their own salvation?!
