Kermit Gosnell, a Philadelphia abortionist, is on trial for murdering babies and causing the death of a patient by drug overdose. Most of the press is ignoring the story, because it doesn’t suit their narrative. They are afraid, it seems, that people will draw the “wrong conclusions” about abortion. Some intrepid liberals, however, are trying to spin the trial, including one who said the real problem is racism. That one’s kind of hard to figure out, because Gosnell himself is black, but where there’s a will there’s a way, apparently…
Others, including the execrable NARAL, are saying that all this really proves is that there is not enough freedom to abort:
Abortion rights opponents are drawing the wrong lesson from the horrific case of Kermit Gosnell, Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, said Friday.
Instead of encouraging more restrictions on reproductive rights, Hogue said, the Gosnell trial should serve as a warning about the consequences of denying women access to safe and affordable abortion care.
“This is exactly what happens when you place undue restrictions and you try to shame women to keep them from exercising their constitutional right to safe and legal abortions,” Hogue told The Huffington Post in an interview. “You make them victims to people like Gosnell, because in their desperation they’ll turn anywhere. You want to drive people like Gosnell out of business? Then you actually support medical facilities and the right of women to safe and legal abortion.”
It’s odd, but I didn’t see any concern there about the dead babies. Does NARAL care about the babies? No, it just wants them aborted more efficiently, and safely, I suppose.
When you look around, you’ll notice feminists calling the Gosnell case horrific, sad, disturbing and all that, but you’ll hear nary a word about the dead babies. It’s about racism, or lack of access to abortion, or something else along those lines. I suppose the patriarchy is bound to make it in there, too.
It seems that the feminists are forgetting – or perhaps ignoring – the fact that Kermit Gosnell is on trial for murder. He is not on trial for abortion, or even illegal abortion, but killing little human beings.
Lest anyone suggest that feminists have a problem with child killing, it must be pointed out that mainstream feminists support abortion at will, without any restrictions whatsoever. They want it whenever they choose, and they want it for free. Sometimes, they even openly support post partum abortion, otherwise known as infanticide.
I’d like readers to consider for just a moment what the reaction might be if someone supporting men were to advocate murder. There would be outrage, hysteria, denunciations — you name it. As it is, anyone who advocates for men, or even questions feminists, is frequently called upon to denounce others for going to far. For suggesting, for example, that the 19th Amendment was a mistake. For advocating patriarchy, or even for saying that women shouldn’t be in certain historically male professions, such as the military.
But feminists get a free pass for advocating murder. Legally defined murder, no less — this is no hyperbole.
So, I’d like to ask feminists out there a serious question:
“Will you disavow murder?”
