I would also like to add that in some types of birth control you don't have as many periods, and they failed to add that in the "ways to prevent it" section. I'll let others fill in the rest of the missing information.

Periods are not a big deal AT ALL unless you're having problems that would lead to excessive bleeding and/or pain. I am not a guy, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that getting kicked in the balls is infinitely worse. You get used to the mild discomfort of a period every month. I doubt the average guy is used to the nauseating pain from the occasional kick to the testicles.
