I am really struggling with giving answer to compliments.

Lets say I go to the beach with some girls and I get my shirt off and one of them says in front of the rest of the group that I'm getting really fit... I usually would say "Thanks" and that's it. I can not think of another way to approach these kind of compliments.

Is there any specific way to give good answers to these leaving you even in a better spot?
