I was corresponding with the ABS when they were in the process of conducting the 2005 Personal Safety Study. There's some more you should know.

They didn't use a conflict tactics scale, they just asked if you were the "victim of DV". This was after two years of publicly funded "Violence against Women - Australia says no" campaigns.

Also the survey was outsourced to, what I suspect was, a feminist group to conduct. The reason I suspect this is because they chose to employ not only female survey collectors but female only administrators to go over the figures. The reason I was given for the collector choice was that in the ABS's experience males don't care who does a job, but females prefer one sex over another (depending on the survey).

I'll see if I can find the actual questionaire and the raw data they sent me. I seem to remember that they simply didn't accept the number of males harrassed in the workplace and dismissed it as 'unreliable'.
