Some circumcisions are voluntarily but I would say 95% aren't.

where the fuck are people getting this idea that circumcision prevents HIV or any other disease? Doesn't have a damn thing to do with disease transmittal.

The whole Circumcision prevents aids is a questionable conclusion but there is quite a bit of support for it in the African trials. On the other hand, because it's such a questionable issue it's difficult to get good trial data (all of the trials have been cut short). could you point me to an article (Preferably in JAMA or BMJ) which questions the validity of the conclusions?

With that said, it seems like trying to use AIDS as a justification for circumcision is ridiculous. It really is a solution in search of a problem. Why is it that when it's questioned people try to come up with medical reasons supporting the practice is beyond me, particularly when it's primarily and traditionally been done for aesthetic and religious reasons.
