It wasn't about sexual oppression. It was to prevent infection in the olden days. Eventually it grew to be a religious act.

You know what's worse than you spreading outright lies like this? The fact that it comes naturally enough to you that you sound as if you were an authority on the subject.

You are 100%, unequivocally wrong. Traditional circumcision has nothing to do with therapeutic practices any more than foot binding or scarification/tattooing did. From the very beginning circumcision was purely cultural; you're talking about people that thought disease was caused by evil spirits or the disfavor of deities. They would not have associated having whole genitals with disease, specially considering the fact that there's no strong correlation between the two to begin with. So it wouldn't have been like someone drinking water or eating uncooked food which would have resulted in a strong associative link between illness and these actions. The genitals are no more a health hazard than any other body part—a person would have been more likely to dry from an infected rotten tooth than a genital infection.

More damningly, a boy would have been many times more likely to die from an infection specifically due to being circumcised in unsanitary conditions than he would have ever being left whole.

No, genital mutilation and other bodily modifications of the kind were usually a means of establishing in-group solidarity, usually performed as rites of passage into adulthood, to mark occasions such as the death of a family member or part of religious ceremonies.

In the future, have the decency to be sure that the facts you're spouting have at least some basis in reality. You don't know the harm your ignorance could be causing.
