I'm in the minority here in /MR, I think, in that I'm a single father of 3 who is owed child support by mom, who is way behind on payments.

I've enlisted the help of the state AG, whose staff tells me they threaten mom with contempt of court charges and probation, but in the meantime I'm owed several thousand dollars and have only seen about $900 since the divorce was finalized a couple of years ago.

From my standpoint, collection practices are somewhat ineffective. Mom is partying with her boyfriend, getting impregnated by the same, buying fancy dresses, and taking off work enough to spend time at school with the kids while I am working every scrap of hour I can in between taking care of the kids. I'm 4 months behind on the mortgage and 3 months behind on the car payment. The power got turned off this morning and after I paid to get it reconnected I have $16 in the bank until Friday.
