I'd like to know why too. Sure his actions weren't warranted, or welcome, but the amount of action taken doesn't warrant the man's actions neither.

So if a man left-hooks a woman for grabbing his ass or crotch, would that fly in court as well or are men held to higher standards in these kinds of cases too? Personally I believe the guy had it coming, but the thing that irritates me severely is it would have been an altogether different story (we all know this) if the genders were reversed.

Yup. Excessive force doesn't apply when it's a woman kicking a man.
