I see that you fully accepted that "rape is rape" maxim...

We, as society, can not treat "taking advantage of a drunk woman" as harshly as "strangers out of the bushes". An insignificant proportion of women never had sex while drunk, so we would have to lock up half the male population. The practical solution is to apply the rule selectively. A man without connections relies on the good will of the woman. Being handsome and attractive improves his chances of not being accused. Being a star athlete in a small town in Texas, being a police officer in New York would bring the man sympathy of the jury when it came deliberations on consent.

And, there is an ever growing proportion of men who are tired of "rape is rape" bullshit and instead of treating "taking advantage of a drunk woman" as harshly as "strangers out of the bushes", treat the latter as lightly as the former.

This acquittal was the most likely outcome of the case.
