Dear Students,

I’m writing to strongly encourage you to participate in the Engineering Student Survey: engineering.illinois.edu/survey. As you might know from a statistics class, surveys can represent viewpoints of minorities (such as women in engineering), only if those populations are ‘oversampled’. Basically, the survey response rate among women has to be higher than that of men, if the concerns of women students are to be accurately represented.

We need your voice – please complete the survey!

The administration is truly interested in hearing what you have to say. They are willing to make changes in such things as college and departmental climate, student workload, and curricular flexibility, but can’t identify or justify changes without a good, solid data base that you can provide by filling out the survey. The survey is open until February 6!
