Tonight I watched Revolutionary Road. The character played by DiCaprio got angry, threw a chair in the house, and pointed his finger angrily into his wife's face.

If this were to happen in real life, this would be enough for him to lose any custody of his children.

I watch a lot of movies and I find that this is a recurring situation: scenes of regular people in popular movies depict actions that would cause the loss of all custody if actually committed by a father in the USA.

I'm not talking about the criminal protagonists that brandish weapons and shoot everthing in sight. Mostly I refer to dramas, supposedly "real world" action, where the action in the movie looks "normal", realistic. What appears "normal" on the movie screen is enough to lose your home and your children, if you are a man.

Anyone else recall other movies or popular culture depictions like that?
