While your statement is true, it doesn't really seem to relate to the article. A man in this same situation would likely get the same treatment. The outcome is unclear, people I know in similar situations end up leaving their kids with friends on base.

UPDATE: Army officials have said that she will be discharged from the military, because she can't find anybody to watch her children.

"The North Carolina mother who reported for Army duty with her two young children will be discharged from the military, said her lawyer, Mark Waple of Fayetteville"

So, here's an easy out for women in the military. Get pregnant, and then write letters stating that you have nobody that can care for the baby. Discharge!
