What a piss-poor argument. For one, the number of women who are childless by choice isn't very high (6.6% in the US in '95); that's hardly an entire generation. Two, it takes a pretty considerable amount of effort (and cost) to never get pregnant, assuming you have sex. The social pressure is also still very strong to have kids. A woman would have to spend a minimum of 20 years avoiding pregnancy, resisting social pressure and biological urges. With that amount of time and effort you own those actions.

The other thing that bothers me about this is she's obviously hurt by her mother's indifference, which is completely understandable. But it doesn't follow that telling women they don't need to be mothers caused this. In fact according to her own story she was raised to avoid anything maternal and STILL thinks that having a child is the most rewarding thing she's ever done. It seems more likely that people who don't want children will be worse parents, and so should be supported in their choice not to have them.
