"Heya I'm looking to make new friends on the coast if your up for a conversation :) What do you enjoy about living on this beautiful planet earth?"
Weird right? It just made me so angry like... f off. That's so intrusive? You dont even know how old I am, what I do, etc, you dont know my situation and that it kinda actually triggered me. (It's lockdown and all my interactions are online. I moved to Melbourne recently and dont have as many connections in general here, so even when we're out of lockdown, a lot of my friends back home are still online interactions. So Im NOT looking for someone to ~have a conversation with.~ I have enough people to message right now thx)
We had 2 mutual friends. My profile doesn't even say I live on the coast (never have), it says I'm from Sydney (the "coast' is a regional area up north).
Now, this has definitely happened before. Honestly I just ignore it. I'm too old to be telling off guys for doing that. As if they're not shooting their shot? But I think i entertained it this time cause i was so pissed off. It seems the fb "other" folder has gone, and so it notified me with the normal sound (it still has that option to say they'll only know you saw it if you reply). So hearing the msg tone and getting disappointed when it wasnt a good friend or something. The little things are too much right now, leave girls alone??
I said "Maybe try bumble BFF or something appropriate for that" He went - "I'm not looking for a relationship or sex haha Just people to chat with"
I said noo, I meant the friends part of bumble. Where BOTH people are looking for that. It didn't seem like he was pushing it after that, but I just blocked incase. So that was it.
I dont know, it bothered me so much. I just need to vent. Like use something appropriate if youre trying to make friends. Even tough i think thats a lie, as if he wasn't trying something and hoping for a response he wouldnt have to defend? Like go message some random dudes then?!? I bet he's not doing that. I feel like its this classic "turn it around and make her feel stupid" that I used to get a lot if I called out guys like that in my early 20s. U wanted something. Admit it. Dont call me sensitive or stupid for pointing it out. (I know this one didnt explicitly, but its a thing thats happened)
You dont know someones situation and that they did NOT invite that.
