I've noticed a trend among women who would undoubtedly self-identify as "feminists". That trend is to treat women like children when it's convenient.

Case in point----the Marilyn Manson debacle, especially regarding his former GF, Evan Rachel Wood. This woman was an adult who chose to date Marilyn Manson, who is a walking RED FLAG. She claimed he did some vile things to her, called her names, and "made her" buy him Nazi memorabilia. As an adult. An adult with money and a career. But women cry about "power imbalance" and "age gap"----"She was only 19/20/21 and he was in his 30s...". But we have no problem sending 19 year olds off to fight and die in wars. 19 year olds can vote, get married, and sign binding contracts. Evan Rachel Wood was a rich, successful working actress, but in this case the feminists treat her like a helpless child.

When the Taylor Swift/John Mayer issue comes up(I know, bear with me), its the same thing. "There was a power imbalance. He was so much older than her...". Never mind that 19 year old had been a famous touring musician who'd traveled the world and amassed a 9 figure fortune by then. All the "you go girl" stuff disappears when she dates a 32 year old rock star and things go poorly.

The whole thing seems like they're trying to play both sides of the coin to their advantage. A 19 year old woman can do anything she wants with no repercussions, but if a man seemingly does her wrong then she's just a kid, poor baby, there's a power imbalance, her brain isn't fully formed until 25, and all that.

So are women fully functioning adults, or do we need to treat them like children forever? Especially in the Marilyn Manson case----she was RICH with a career---nothing kept her there except her choice, right?
